Too much negativity on here, too often. Couple seasons ago I posted "is this best ever Palace squad and manager?" Got knocked back, even laughed at. We won trophies...OK some have gone but I think (positively) we will surprise the league this season. I could name 12 "quality" Premier players in squad...but will let you do that....the Pierre Sage record looks nice.
(also for the "worriers", I can can name 10 clubs more likely than CPFC to be relegated. Oh, go on....)

Positives

Love the sash kit and retro badge

We’re bringing a few players in and we’re not finished

Johnson’s gone

At the moment we’re level on points with every other team in the division

Mary Knickers is making himself look a right bellend

We’ve got European football again even if we do get knocked out in the group stage we’re guaranteed 8 games

How’s that?

Im very positive, my dream has always been to watch us play in a competitive match, either madrid or barca at the bernabeu or camp nou, or juvetus or the milan clubs at the San ciro or delle alpi. Three of them ain't in the Europa and juve don't play there anymore but there's still a great chance of it happening.

The promoted clubs look very likely to be the relegated clubs come seasons end, or at least to occupy two of the three spots. It seems to get harder for promoted sides to stay up every year (hence Sunderland being so impressive, and even they ran out of steam very much after winter). This isn't a strong looking Palace team, but it should be enough.

The financial structuring of parachute payments make it so that the teams going down have a better chance of coming right back up. I wouldn't be surprised to West Ham and Wolverhamption be able to buy themselves back up quickly and then we'll see who else joins them.

While at the same time the clubs coming up are often going right back down because the majority of them don't have the financial resources to stay up. It will be interesting to see if Wrexham's commercial success can help them get up and stay up but for most clubs they don't have the local base or international support to be able to fund the type of squad that keeps them up.

A lot to be positive about.

Every season, half of the fan base spend all pre-season moaning about the players we have or haven't got.

At present we've essentially lost Lacroix and Clyne, and replaces them with 2 very experienced players.

Johnson has been replaces with someone much more reliable. And we've added what looks like a seriously exciting player in Khalaili. With a great prospect in Gozo due to follow.

The world cup has seriously messed up our preparations, but others will be in simular situations.

Lots to be excited about with the Europa cup, as for the league I'd be happy to avoid relegation/come in around 12-17th again. Will be tough with a new manager, loss of Lacroix's leadership and the additional European games.

I feel that it is essential that the fans are patient. It is likely to be a slow if not difficult start as players coming back late from the World Cup get to know each other on the pitch and begin to grasp Sage's system. I'm excited by the positive signings. Just remember that slow start under Glasner. COYP ❤️💙🦅🏆

I fulfilled that dream in 1975……….against Mansfield and Hereford 🤣

No wins in his first 6 games at the helm but this was followed by 3 wins in succession.
Iraola has been known for not 'Hitting the ground running' at clubs. Bournemouth never won in their first 9 PL games under him.
Thomas Frank's Brentford lost 8 of their first 10 games under his management.

We could have a bad start, but I suppose it’s about how you lose sometimes, we could lose play well, create chances and be a tad unlucky or we could lose and look a disjointed mess where no-one looks like they know what they’re doing

Simple answer: Cheik Doucoure. (Even the possibility of him regaining fitness and form is exciting.)
For that one season he was a machine that Liverpool wanted to pay £75 million for (apparently) so it would be great to have that back. The only thing missing was a goal or two

If Monsters like Newcastle or Aston Villa are now faced with selling major assets to stay within the rules I cant see Wrexham getting anywhere. Thats if they get up anyway. Many clubs in the past have tried to buy their way out of the Championship and realised money alone is not enough. Wolves under Jack Hayward are a prime example. He threw truly ridiculous money (for that era) at promotion only to see the Leicester City's, the Crystal Palace's, the West Bromwich Albion's pass them by

With the opening games we have I'd expect us to not accumulate many points early doors. This does not mean I dont epect us to have a good season. I think once we hit our stride we may well surprise a few people.

We can't really fault the club for not bringing people in. But you do have to question if we should have a better back three. We don't seem to be linked with any now. Are we going to leave it there? It seems to have gone from our strongest to our weakest position in a short length of time.

I wonder whether we're waiting for Chelsea to reduce the loan fee for Disasi. In the meantime we may be trying to keep under the radar re another option.

Surely there is only one Leicester City, one Crystal Palace and one West Bromwich Albion ? One of my pet hates that type of analogy. Just saying…

Been thinking this myself. Surely we sign a CB that our other CBs play around.
