Really? What choice did he have? Don't extend the contract and let Olise go to Bayern for £35m was the only other option. I suspect SP squeezed the maximum release clause he could achieve at that point.

SP to blame for Olise by agreeing 50m buy out clause

We paid £8m for him, that was a bargain. What if Olise said I won’t sign for palace without the release clause?

Personally I think it was a good signing. I wish he did not have a release clause but I am sure so did Reading FC. I don’t blame Parish. I thank him and Dougie for bringing in the best player that may ever play for our club, the entertainment of watching him and the £40+ profit we have so far made from the deal

But some people blame SP for allowing him to play for Palace. Olise is a bright cookie, he knew his worth. He would get regular game time at Palace to develop, as a stepping stone to aa big club and insisted on a release clause, so he could have a choice of clubs he wanted to join.

Olise/ his agent/ family has managed his career well so far.
Everything is geared towards getting the best out of the player - not signing the latest advertising contract or releasing Tik Tok videos.
