Parish Out

I did think Textor had two good points
1) he put all lot of readies in to get the Academy finished when no one else did

2) he correctly spoke about ambition or lack there of when it came to Parish

It’s hard to think to think otherwise that someone is part of the problem not solution to notch it up 3 spots in the prem

Parish put faith in Hobbs with the monies paid for JSL & Johnson both turned out to be a poor return on investment

Parish is now very shy on putting that kind of money on players ever again due to being burnt

This will , likely is becoming Palace's downfall this season

Would Love to hear Parish tell us why he thinks we are in this position

It’s so easy to name Palace leaders on the pitch in seasons gone by , but 26/27 everyone on the pitch , dressing room , crowd is looking asking “ who is it “ ?

Steve - who’s the leader on the pitch where has he gone ?

Its easy with hindsight but both Strand larsen and Johnson were good signings at the time. Both Leeds and Newcastle had bids rejected for JSL, so thats another 2 established prem clubs that believed he could improve them and Johnson was spurs top score and we needed goals from other players on the pitch.

You can't put them 2 signings down to mismanagement from the club.

I don’t really know what this means? How are we defining ambition?

Our last two managerial appointments have been pretty bold? So was FdB at the time.

We’ve sold players yes, but over the years we’ve also paid substantial fees for players like Benteke, Sakho, JSL, Johnson, Nketiah. Even players like Pino, Canvot, Doucoure, Guehi, Wharton etc were’t cheap. Outside of transfer fees he stumped up the wages to bring in other big players like Cabaye and Cahill.

He stayed strong on keeping our talisman Zaha for years.

Developing and improving the ground and facilities have been a consistent theme and a part of his plan?

What does more ambition look like?

This is the kind of post that we always seem to get when talking about Parish, pure speculation.

The club puts faith in its staff to do a good job, Were you privy to the discussions as to Hobb's appointment? How do you know that Parish is now scared to put money into recruiting players "due to being burnt". Many think they understand exactly what goes on in the background with regards to the decisions made when in reality the fans known nothing until someone comes out and gives an interview.

In the years we have been in the premiership the board has made loads of choices, good, bad and ugly. Yet here we are, more than a decade in the toughest, most elite league in football, with 3 trophies but as soon as we go through a rough patch, its the end of the world as we have come to know it.

In all that time we have had changes to the players, staff and board. The one constant has been Steve Parish and there is no need to talk about how the club was saved, that was quite a while ago now. Steve Parish can stand on the record of the club at the top level. The best ever club, no.. An established Premier League side, yes. Furthermore, Any club can go down in this league, no club is too big.

Steve Parish has put his heart into this club he isn't just some guy with a lot of cash who wants a piece of the Prem. He ain't perfect but I'm so glad he's there. Just like Palace itself..

2010 was 2010 and yes we will always be thankful to Parish for that - but on that remember it wasn't only Parish, it was Martin Long, Stephen Browett and Jeremy Hosking. In fact if you recall correctly Parish was a reluctant member of that Group - saying at the time he had limited funds and that this was a temporary measure..!!

Fast forward 16 years and that "temporary measure" remains in place and Parish's "limited funds" are still an issue and costing us..!!

Meantime Parish has seen his personal wealth grow to an estimated £50M..!!

So don't tell me Parish is doing this just because he's a Palace fan - he's doing very well out of this "temporary measure" thank you very much..!!
Parish and Co. were not the only fans to help this club out; a lot of us ordinary fans put our hands in our pockets too. I remember sponsoring the match against Preston North End on Easter Monday, the 5th of April 2010, when we were told the club couldn't afford to pay the players' wages, apparently. We, and I think there were about 3 or 4 thousand of us, did our bit. Not very good, really, was it? Seeing as we had a fan base then of way above 3 or 4 thousand, didn't we? That was a good turnout, wasn't it?

People on hundreds of pounds a week, probably didn’t feel the need to pay the wages of people on thousands of pounds a week.
I’d say 3000-4000 was a decent turn out.

Yeah, right, we sponsored the game, which helped save Palace. Was Parish and Co. doing the same then?

Parish and the board have ride their luck in the past and probably felt they could do the same this summer. Sell experienced players for a large profit and extend the squad with loanees, youngsters and injury prone cheap players. Currently it looks like quantity over quality isn’t going to work.

At some stage their (our) luck will run out, could well be this year.

After our last 2 seasons we shouldn’t be in this situation, but we are. I think Parish and the board become complacent.

Sage will take the flack and the new manager will come in and do little better. The defence isn’t good enough, we lack pace to play on the counter and there is a lack of leaders.

Perhaps the board and Parish can reflect on what they did wrong when we sit mid table in the championship.

Maybe don’t play a system that relies on a back three covering large areas, having no cover and an attack that requires pace on the counter. It’s not like other tactics aren’t available.

of the top 44 Football Clubs in England, name ONE that hires & fires managers as fast as us.

Parish Out. Sage In.
We haven’t fired a manager since March 2023. Glasner and Roy left of their own accord.

In fact in our time since we got promoted we’ve fired four managers in Pardew, Warnock, Viera and FdB. Five if you include Holloway who left by mutual consent.

That’s well towards the bottom of end of the scale for Preimer League clubs.

My thoughts precisely. They have run it very close previously, Big Sam winning against Liverpool and Chelsea was a Houdiniesque escape routine, Benteke chipping the Chelsea keeper, pure fantasy stuff but it really happened so Parish thinks he can get away with it again; just employ a Roy type, knuckle down, spend in January and all will be well. I'm not so sure Parish can get away with it this time. Weak squad, want away players, no leadership, no warrior types up for the battle ahead, well at least they haven't offered anything so far that suggests that they have what it takes.
But of course there is always hope.

Lack of warrior type for the battle ahead seems to me relevant.
It looks to me as if a number of players have gone into their shell.
They need a 'reboot.'

Always makes me laugh when fans want OWNERS of football clubs out

It’s like walking in your local pub and demanding the OWNER leaves because you drink in there 🤣

Parish has more right to stay than any of us, I’ve been going 52 years, but without the likes of Noadsey, Jordan and Parish and co, I wouldn’t have had a club to support and then people want them out when we have a poor run on the pitch. 🤪
