Parish Out

Ok so let's say we stage a big protest every game from now until the end of the season with huge banners saying "Parish Out" or something like "Hairdressers appointments are holding back the club" and Parish goes "you know what, f*ck it, I'm sitting on millions, I don't need the money, I'm off to Richard Branson's island for a few years to play chess with Eze, bollocks to you all I'm off".

What happens next?

No seriously, what happens next?

Our remaining board members appoint a new chairperson who does what exactly? They'll look at the finances, look at the FFP and PSR rules and go "hmmm, well I've got these billionairre owners, but we can't spunk 500 million on players because we're not allowed. We can however spend the money on doing up the acadamy and training ground... oh that's been done already. Hmm, well the only way we can do anything is to increase our revenue, so let's get that stand build thing that Mr. Hairspray was on about".

I don't understand what people think will happen if Parish was to go, some metamorphsis into a Man City squad and riches? That he's putting massive brakes on the finances and diving into the Palace vault, swimming around in coins like Scrooge McDuck?

The only thing you can do if you want to risk it all and don't want to keep the club on an even keel, is to gamble and completely ignore the money rules, bust your FFP limit sky high and assume we'll win something. If it doesn't work, that could lead to fines, points deductions and transfer embargo's and then everyone will be saying "wtf is the board doing, we're screwed now". We've seen clubs do that and then end up tumbling down the leagues.

The only thing a club our size can do, like it or not, is try to stretch our limit that is set upon us by FFP/PSR by increasing revenue. It's why clubs like us, Fulham, Everton, et al. are building new stands or stadiums, because it's all we can do. It's not a coincedance is it?

All of that being said, I do think it would be ideal if Parish was to give us something information wise, outside of the sanitized programme notes. I would imagine that we won't see anymore transfer activity, in or out until the summer now, but I do expect to see something in the summer and getting the new manager in asap after the end of the season is beyond essential.

I agree with what you are saying on the whole, however having a bigger capacity, by way of a new stand will help us towards FFP/PSR and being able to attract better players
It will enable us to tread water - no more IMO. The increased capacity will move us up from being the 17th largest ground in the current PL to the 13th. Even if we then increased to 40k we'd only overtake Elland Rd and move up to 12th.

The club is currently rudderless and heading in the wrong direction.

After the success of last season this was the year to take the club to new heights but we've been badly led down by the hierarchy.

I'm not suggesting "Parish out" but we need some communication from him. What is the direction of travel and expectations for the future? It seems like it's just going to be mediocrity when we all had such high hopes. Very disappointing.
OG would have been the ideal candidate to walk this way.

I can't access this as it's behind a paywall, but the journalist obviously has a problem with Parish

I used to watch oliver holt on sunday supplement a few years ago. I was under the impression he was blind as he closes his eyes when he talks.
In fact i think he watches the game like that too!!
