PALACE V CHELSEA MATCH THREAD

After pooping ourselves for the first 30 minutes we actually got going and played very well.
We have to start games better, especially against the better sides.

Mitchell was superb today and Guehi was solid as a rock. Munoz and Lacroix both earned their money. By contrast, Eze was appalling until he provided the assist for Mateta.

In the end, a very well deserved draw against a side with some world class players.
Fair summary, I thought Lerma worked his socks off as well. Not super talented but like Hughes, works really hard.

I don’t understand why Devenny is not getting the sub spot in central midfield. I can sort of understand Kamada for Eze but not Kamada for Doucoure.

Good point well earned. If Chelsea had been at their best, they would have scored more goals but they nevertheless played well; unfortunately for them so did we especially in the second half. After quarter of an hour a long afternoon seemed to loom but to their credit Palace always managed to show a threat in response. Telling perkaps that Sanchez was Chelsea's man of the match.

Highlights for me were Eze and Doucoure's returns from injuries continuing to progress, another excellent game from JPM and the performances of our wing backs.

Fantastic point today - first 30 mins were a bit scary but we hung in there.
However, we were surberb in the 2nd half.
Can't believe we restricted them to only 1 shot on target in the whole match.

Mitchell had another excellent game - so solid at the back, hardly put a foot wrong.

Enjoying the beers now, especially as our south coast friends are one down

A very good point. Totally outplayed in the first half but stuck in there and played much better in the second half. Nicely worked goal. Munoz was full of energy in defence and attack. Eze not clinical but involved in most of our good stuff. Richards was a weak link but tightened up in the second half.

Now have a full week off before the cup. Really hope OG makes changes for that game. We should have enough to beat Stockport while playing for the likes of Riad, Nketiah, Deveney and Kamada rather than Eze, JPM and Guehi.

A game of two halves, Chelsea in the first, us in the second, i thought Lacroix, Richards, Muñoz and Lerma where the pick of our players, although Mitchell did ok, his dosent compare to Muñoz in the attacking part of the game, the main difference is the two Benches, Chalk and Cheese, Doucoure must be carrying an injury, but a point is good, onwards and upwards, LWB, RWB(loan) and Left footed Attacker needed, Muñoz and Mitchell need a rest now and then.

I knew someone who was a continuum of Budgerigars, no miscommunicationings whatsoever, please no apologisings, no needings.
Stanley Unwin I believe.

Anyway, great draw with Chelsea today. One point more than I forecast so delighted with the result. Ollie gets plenty of credit for his subs today, but Kamada still looks flaky. The Beeb gave him the booby prize and made Munoz MOTM.

Up the Palace.

Great result.

1 point behind United, 2 behind West ham, 3 behind Spurs and 6 behind Brighton. League fixtures against Leicester, West Ham, Brentford, United and Everton to come. We could definitely start reeling that lot in!
Finish above Utd and Spurs and I don’t really care what position we finish but I’d be guessing about 9th.

Utd in a relegation scrap is my dream.

Credit goes to Glasner for tweeking the formation to stop Palmer and Sancho running the game.

It would be amazing but if it was those two or just Brighton, I'd still pick Brighton. Love it when they get off to a good start, think they're going to win the league and then we overhaul them.

getting Sarr to drop deep in the second half and Munoz to press higher worked well. Tactically that was great from Glasner as we all see sarr as someone who likes to run on to the ball rather than have it at his feet.
Having no Hughes and Chalobah and to still get a point is a good result.

I understand the rivalry but it really doesn’t bother me. There are numerous teams I hate more. Utd, Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea ad nauseum

Agreed about the Brighton rivalry. I’ve tried to get into it but I feel like I’m a fake.

I truly dislike Everton and Wolves. Fighting stuff on trains. Gobshites.
