Palace v Bournemouth Matchday Thread

For 60 minutes Munoz was pants, only after that he decided to play. Glasner prefers the Wharton Kamada combination, I think he knows the players better.
In fairness to Munoz, Bournemouth pressed us through out the first half and he couldn’t get forward. And even more so him and Richard’s had Semenyo coming down there side. Semenyo was outstanding in the first half and is too good for Bournemouth and us and deserves to be playing for the top sides out there. I think the many subs used by Bournemouth made them weaker and worked in our favour including Munoz who had the freedom once Semenyo moved elsewhere in the team. Plus we played much better second half 🙂

This is a golden time for us and Bournemouth. 2 of the best managers around. I do wonder how well pep, arteta and slock would do with us or Bournemouth. Both sets of fans need to drink this time period in while we can.

Those 3 would do nothing at a club like ours.

Some managers get the best out of what they have others need the players which can work with there system those 3 are the ones which need $$$.

Of all the games I've seen, I have to say that the team performance Bournemouth put in was excellent. Pleased we raised our game in the second half.

Two things I think we need to tweak:
Use our (excellent) bench more.
Someone needs to fix Whartons radar.

If you put together the second half last game against Everton and first half today you have our worst performance this season and a 0-4 result. Compare that to the first half at Everton and second half today. Absolutely no comparison. It’s a funny old game Saint as Greavsie would say.

I actually thought Bournemouth got their tactics spot on the first half. They stopped the crosses and passes out to Munoz and gave him very little time on the ball.

But then the second half we seemed to work out what they were up too and he got the space and balls to him.

The game I felt really turned when pino went off.

What a great game by two committed sides, I thought Bournemouth were excellent in spells and really worked us out in the first half and were really good in the transitions of play. Second half withdrawing Pinto and bringing Eddie on made a difference and you see that pace of Eddie and Sarr was causing problems. Overall a point a piece was about the right result…..

Like I said, motd, c****.

So they have two form sides at the top of the table in a thrilling goal stuffed game, or Chelsea away Vs struggling Forest. We all know that the other way around Chelsea would still be on first.

They then show a massively cut down game, really just the goals tbh.

Ariola, what planet is he on? And Richards thinking it wasn't a penalty, what a div. Since when has it been ok to perform American football style blocking like that? It's one of the few decisions Gillet got right. And as for the DOGSO, Jesus Christ it's OBVIOUS Sarr would get to the ball to shoot. I'm annoyed he went down, he could've scored.

When one is 2-0 in arrears and then 3-2 down in the dying embers of the game, a 3-3 can be considered a satisfying result.
Assessing the 'Bigger picture' we have now drawn 3 of our 4 PL games at home, and such results do not align with supporters lofty expectations of our final position in the table.

I’ve had a couple of pints over the day, but JPM is so annoying. Open goal at the end… WTF
Plus he takes an awful penalty.
I’ll take the 3-3 but on balance they were the better team IMO.
What? We created far more chances than them. They played well in the first half but it wasn't all them, they just finished better. Second half we battered them.

JPMs penalty was excellent

Just seen Mateta last miss , not that easy have seen alot of players missing these chances in different teams , that's his second hatrick what more can you ask of a striker,

Just a side note got to feel sorry for mary knackers forest 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I wouldn't call our first half performance "poor" - we were just outplayed pure and simple.

That first half pressing by Bournemouth was as intense as anything as I have witnessed in recent seasons.
Their forwards were sprinting to close down our defenders who looked unusually uncomfortable on the ball resulting in lots of long balls which their defenders were able to deal with. This made it difficult for Pino to have an impact on the game and we were losing duels all over the field.

It was always unlikely that Bournemouth would be able to keep up that level of intensity and so it proved.

In the second half we got more time on the ball and upped our own level of intensity.
The contribution of Munoz in particular is worthy of note.
Aside from his two crosses which led to our first two goals, he made a lunge busting 50 yard recovery run to prevent another goal opportunity for Bournemouth.

My immediate feeling post match was that as a draw was a fair result.
On reflection I think we just edged it with the opportunities we had and think a win would have been merited.

Quite correct. We're headed for our customary 12th spot finish, albeit with extra games in Europe, ho ho!

JPMs penalty was excellent
I disagree- his penalty was awful. It rolled in. Had the keeper not gone the other way it would have been on par with Eze’s diabolical penalty.
I’m very much the lover of the Harry Kane type approach- bang it in the upper half of the net . Top corner.
In the cold light of day it obviously should have been a 4-3 win, but at 4.55 yesterday I was happy to walk away with the draw.

have you watched his pens thats not the first one like that , and keeper going wrong way you could say that about everyone pen , he does mix it up which keeps the keepers guessing hence keeper went wrong way this time , and any pen that goes in is a great pen

I prefer penalties hit with power, but JPM does tend to place them sending the keeper the wrong way.
