Interesting article by Ed Aarons in the Guardian on our transfer window. Reading between the lines we failed to get any of the targets that Sage wanted, especially in defence and that the signings of Timber and Osario were last minute. It describes Sage as “sanguine” about the window but the implication is that he is unimpressed with the business. One of those where the quotes about being happy with the business read to me like meaning the exact opposite

Well these are extracts from the article which appear to support the poster's contention, unless you think the journalist is making it up.
Quite possibly I am being cynical. Certainly on the reading of Sage’s comments. I fully admit that is just my sense and may well be wrong. I also freely admit I tend to be a pessimist when it comes to Palace. After 40 years watching us I find it saves time in the long run 😀
The artifice does talk about missing out on Sage’s first choice targets in defence.
So yes you may well be right in which case fair enough. Still an interesting article though which does hint at some frustration.

It's amazing how often a serious journalist makes a mildly critical comment on Palace and some on here immediately shout, 'Clickbait.'

No team gets all their first choice options which is why deadline day has 35% of deals done in the transfer window. We got a good bunch of squad players to start Palace EPL v7.0. The future looks okay.

We ended up with Osorio, who is in fact a Palace target from Freedman's days.
Hopefully, he will be very good.
Any manager would want a replacement for Lacroix , particularly after the loss of Guehi too.
We lost out on two centre halves, one of which we may revisit in January.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt what Sage had in mind for a replacement was a loan from Chelsea for a player they don't want ,an injury prone Tomiyasu, or an 18 year old we are developing for Chelsea.
Ed Aarons is a serious journalist ( and Palace fan) and to me it looks like an objective piece of reporting.
If he had reported it as a great window in line with what Sage wanted, no doubt it would be quoted as a supportive piece of the club.
Because it's mildly critical it's dismissed as clickbait, no doubt along with stories on Sarr that sole also choose to believe are nonsense.
For what it's worth, I'm hopeful it will prove to be a good window, and recognise that you can't always get your first choices.

A lot of that article is supposition which is disappointing from a Palace supporting journalist like Aarons. Sage has publicly said he is pleased with the window and praised the attributes of some of the signings. Yes we missed out on a couple but we’re Palace not Real f#####g Madrid !
