Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

Gotta say I miss the days when you could go down to watch a game and there would be a couple of new players in the team you didn't know we had purchased. Jeff Johnson and Stewart Jump 1973 springs to mind

Looking at the players we've brought in how many are exciting signings? As a London based club who've won the cup and a European trophy as well as bringing in over a billion pounds in the past decade this window has been disappointing to say the least. Obviously we can't compete for £100 m deals but FFS we should be able to attract better players than we have.

My thoughts exactly- I don’t profess to know the inner workings of a premier league club but I had hoped that, securing a Europa league spot, we’d be attracting a different profile of player. The type we’d be saying ‘he’s gone to get European football’ about a few years ago…

The worry for me is we have signed a load of squad players. We leave this window with a first eleven that is worse than when we started it. We still seem to have all the same gaps. Lack of proven quality and leadership at the back, lack of dynamism and quality depth in central midfield. Too many players who play on the right and no natural player on the left.

The number of players who play on the right is now a bit silly really. Pino, Sarr, Gozo, Osaio (if it happens) Nketiah, McNeil (seeing as Sage plays him there), Guessand all play there. All those for one spot.

Just again looks like no real plan. I know lots goes on etc etc but why are we even in for right wingers on deadline day when we have so many? Why didn’t we target and get a centre back and a quality centre mid. Why did we sign the likes of Gozo who is unlikely to get any game time?

For me the signing that actually makes most sense is Chilwell if it happens.

Sounds like you are well chuffed with our transfer window then? Cracked window?

I saw a news item earlier from Fulham with the title "Palace on General Sale". I was wondering whether this was referring to our playing squad then realised it was about tickets for the game at the wkd.

Not based on economics. Because of the UEFA rules we cannot spend big money. The flip is if we did spend big money and we don’t have European games next year we’d be offside on the new PSR rules. We just don’t have the revenue to cover it.

This window is basically a much more expensive version of the infamous Holloway one. Just got loads in most who won’t play but somehow ended up with a significantly worse first eleven
