Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

This window is basically a much more expensive version of the infamous Holloway one. Just got loads in most who won’t play but somehow ended up with a significantly worse first eleven
We lost Lacroix and Munoz from the first XI and replaced them with Disasi/Tomiyasu/Khalaili/Mingueza.

Is that really significantly worse?

We have signed 9 players and possibly 2 more being signed as we type. We have lost 2 first team players and a few bench warmers. Not a bad window. They wont all work out but we now have plenty of options.

Not based on economics. Because of the UEFA rules we cannot spend big money. The flip is if we did spend big money and we don’t have European games next year we’d be offside on the new PSR rules. We just don’t have the revenue to cover it.
Have to watch and see. Also reported we might have pulled out of the Fofana deal due to concerns over his ankle injury.

Looking at the players we've brought in how many are exciting signings? As a London based club who've won the cup and a European trophy as well as bringing in over a billion pounds in the past decade this window has been disappointing to say the least. Obviously we can't compete for £100 m deals but FFS we should be able to attract better players than we have.
When we signed Eze and Olise they were just good prospects- Wharton too.
A lot moaned about losing Anderson as we didn't know how good Lacroix would be. A lot of us hadn't heard of Munoz. A lot were very underwhelmed signing Sarr and Mateta.
Loads on here said Deano was a waste of £20m as Sam Johnstone was better.
Hopefully some of the unexciting players become exciting.
Mind you, I'm a sucker for a new signing.
There's a programme from the 80's with 5 new signings- something like George Wood, Les Strong, Stan Cummins and probably some other duffers. I remember turning up and being massively excited.
Who was our last exceptional signing who was already at the top of their game?

In my head it is Cabaye.

Arguments could be made for Sakho (I thought he was superb in his initial games with us and before he got injured) and for the resigning of Zaha. Benteke's goals in his initial half season under BFS kept us up that year in my opinion.

The Blackburn faithful would disagree with you re Wharton, albeit unproven at the top level.

Of course it would be wonderful if all these signings turn out to be brilliant and we really kick on with them but shouldn't we be looking at more than potential and free transfers? If we can't after a decade in the PL we never will.
Last signing at the top of their game? You've got me. Don Rogers?

Spot on . Have been tempted to go through old posting to find people complaining about some signing and then show recent post from them complaining about loosing the same players .

They say they want established EPL players
Are they talking about SL , BJ , Benteke and Sahko ? Jury out on SL , and Benteke had one good season but …

Seems however much you pay , things don’t always work out

Yeah all those BFS signings were good. Van Aanholt etc. ( I put etc. when I can't remember!)
Cabaye...an absolute beast - worth the admission fee on his own.

Defence

Out - Lacroix, Munoz, Clyne, Sosa, Cardines, Imray
In - Khalaili, Mingueza, Chilwell, Tomiyasu, Ahanor, Disasi

Midfield

Out - Ozoh
In - Timber

Attack

Out - Johnson
In - McNeil, Gozo, Osorio

I don't think anybody can credibly claim our squad is weaker than last season. And if half of those players come good, it could be significantly stronger.

Of the “ youngsters “ who have left , Cardines is in a loan .

I know some are disappointed Danny was sold . Personally I’m disappointed Ozoh has been sold.

The big negative is Max leaving . Munoz less do for me , but they were both sensible business decisions.

Personally I think this is one of the better handles windows . When possible deals fell over , we always had someone else that we moved on to quickly .

Maybe Steve & Hobbs actually did a good job 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well, it could certainly be argued that Munoz and Lacroix are the best two players on the list. And part of last season we had Guehi and, briefly, Eze. Doucoure could be a 'new signing', of course
To my mind, the critical aspect is whether or not JPM and Sarr perform.
