Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

What a disgrace. Football is rigged. Can see how this will go for us now which is a massive shame. Would have been amazing to keep the team together and have pushed onto the next level but fear we will loose glasner at the end of this year. A sad day for football and a larger representation of an ever present class system on the whole, in our society, designed to keep the rich rich. Football doesn't deserve the love we give it.

We don't have anywhere near the squad depth to play in the Europa League. If JP, Lacroix or Munoz get a big injury against Chelsea, then seriously what do we do?

Get a few bodies in to fill out the squad. Batter the Scandinavians in the qualifying. Take the Conference League as a chance to win it, a chance for Esse and Devenny to get some starts in and develop through some of the earlier rounds, and let's have as good a season as we possibly can whilst we still have Glasner on the books.

The rule is crap and nonsense but if an independent court says we broke it then that's that. No point spending more energy on it.

Come on. I expect a few overly emotional responses to the news but seriously?
Do you think that the players, on the pitch during the FA Cup final were thinking about the Europa League? I doubt it very much. Surely the importance of the moment was to win and lift the trophy on the day, the same as yesterday, win the trophy. Improving our overall position in the Premiership is far more important than a one-off jolly into Europe.
Yes, seriously. Sure winning the Cup was reward enough but having to travel all over Europe for such a low level competition, adding games to the schedule, won't be very appealing either for the current players or for potential signings.

I understand the concerns some have about how this will affect our manager, players and potential signings however I'd also point out that it was unlikely we'd qualify for Europe in the first place, we'd only qualified for the second tier competition so going down to the third is not an enormous leap, but also the fact that we've won two trophies in the last three months and have an effective management/playing team at the club.

Therefore I don't imagine it having any sort of catastrophic impact. My hope would be for us to strengthen the team (as we should be) by the end of the window, get our sh!t together and start competing this season.

The decision is a joke, it's abundantly clear to the footballing world, but these are the same bods who decided to hold a World Cup in Qatar so it's nothing new. Therefore whilst we are the victims here, I wouldn't dwell on that too much. That really is a loser mentality and it will play out on the pitch if so.

COYP!!!

We're literally starting the new season having already won silverware at Wembley.

Of course it will! Our first time playing in Europe following our first major trophy, hopefully a stepping stone and more progress, trophies and European journeys to follow. That is I am sure what most people associated with the club would strive for.

Not a popular view, but I would rather play in the conference with a better chance of winning it than just see how far that we could get in the Europa. With our squad, the conference would be a great chance to give Fringe players game time, and not overburden first teamers to much.

Here's a fun conspiracy...did Textor alert Marinakis to the fact we didn't comply with the multi-club ownership/blind trust issue? They have done a lot of business together in recent months with players moving between clubs owned by each of them. Marinakis has a history littered with accusations of bribery, blackmail, fraud, etc., so it wouldn't be a surprise on his part. Did Textor do this to pi$$ off Parish while getting a backhander from the human blob? Parish stated that this issue was only pushed because of Forest intervening (whether that is true is obviously up for debate).

Obviously, I'm not saying Textor did do the dirty on us, but there are enough breadcrumbs to suggest it's not impossible.

I did some sums. If SP had 4 lawyers working for £1000 an hour each they would have had to spend 30 days full time on this to rack up £1m. Even double it and it’s peanuts when you compare it to transfer fees.

but it's not peanuts you are not getting it.

not sure you understand how the fees work either.

I have family which does this for a living in London and I asked them not about full breakdown because they can't work that out without being on the case but they mentioned about going abroad which would have very large increase in fees.

1-2m could be the signing on fee for a player at the end of the day or even a loan fee.

We had to appeal £1-£2m is small fry compared to the potential extra income if we had won the appeal, circa £20m. Bet youre only saying this now as we lost the appeal.

Have you taken a look at how rough our fixtures after each of the Europa League weeks are?

Liverpool H
Everton A
Arsenal A
Brighton H
Man United H
Man City H
Chelsea H
Forest A

The idea that we are competitive against Roma, Porto etc. and then able to handle that at the weekend was fanciful anyway. I don't know how enjoyable that would have been.

Unfortunately I think the Conf League is the only way we might be able to manage that.

Even then, there are some decent teams in the Conf. League this year. Fiorentina, Besiktas, Shaktar or Panathanaikos, Mainz, Alkmaar...

We could have a good time if we let ourselves!

I'd be more willing to accept the decision if UEFA weren't completely inept and if that fat beardy bloke wasn't involved.

This whole UEFA taking a stand against MCOs is laughable... This whole blind trust loophole was something created by them to help out their 'big club buddies' who benefit from genuine MCO structures.

It absolutely stinks and there's been so many circumstances that have gone against us, Lyon late qualification, Lyon excused of financial trouble despite being riddled with debt.

It's hard not to feel a victimised but I guess the only thing we can do is suck it up, win the conference league and stick it to UEFA with some pre game protests.

Yes.

I don’t feel as bad as when they stopped us from taking the place in the Champions League but it hurts. The football authorities really are a corrupt bunch and apply and change their rules according to the size of the club and wealth of the club they are dealing with.
My view is that the Club should set out their stall to win the competition which in the past was the UEFA cup and none of us would have complained about playing in that in the past.
Use the hurt to generate desire and foster an us against the world mentality. I don’t think the difference between the competitions will make much difference to Ebbs or Marc…neither are Champions League.
A season of tifos calling out UEFA corruption and the fat man’s brother in law would be good….all televised…with a special stuff UEFA display for the Conference League final.

I fear some interesting penalty decisions/sendings off etc... from refs in the playoff when we start our Tifo's. No one at UEFA will want us to receive continued coverage to remind everyone of their alleged corruption.

We lost the appeal but as others have said, time to move on. I hope the chants and displays against UEFA whilst justifiable up until today's appeal outcome, will stop now. Otherwise its just negative energy.

This is clearly the best ever time to be a Palace supporter with lots to look forward too and recent success to enjoy. Let's not let UEFA steal our thunder and spoil it for us, being in Europe should not be viewed as a punishment even if its the Conf league.

COYP and gladallover Textor has left the building!

Exactly, spend energy on recruitment and keeping Glasner on side.
Even if he probably leaves .
