Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

The feeling wasn't good when Palace were the only party required to make disclosure at last week's proceedings.
Parish referred to that as being unfair, and then in terms of the decision said he hoped 'commonsense' would prevail.

Sadly commonsense and the regulations often don't coincide.

On the face of it most will see it as a travesty, particularly as there's no conflict now with Lyon, but there are some bad actors around who have exploited the situation and found a willing accomplice in UEFA.

Everyone knows this is bullshit.

We have to move on as a club and let our legal team deal with any further action.

We must win the Conference League.

Yes, that makes sense, yet Parish's defence against UEFA's ruling is that there was no MCO ownership issue. So either there was or there wasn't - what's it to be?
I can imagine SP hosting a board meeting, first item on the agenda share ownership:
SP - "John, you need to put your shares in a blind trust, we've got a chance to get into Europe through the FA Cup and we don't want to have any conflict of interest what with your ownership of Lyon and the like"
JT - "Sure thing Steve, I'll get on it right away"
I think the point is that if we lose the CAS appeal we will sue. So if CAS rule that there was an ownership issue then we can sue, as they are the ultimate arbitrator who, all parties have signed up to comply by. In this scenario our previous arguments are moot. As you say "there was or there wasn't ". If CAS say "there was" then there was and vice versa. Also as director Textor is complelled to act in the best interest of the company and avoid conflicts of interests, he does not only have to do this if instructed, it is his responsibility to undertake this off his own back, and he already admitted he was aware of the issue.

Lawyers charge exorbitant fees it’s true but those are dwarfed by those paid for and to Premier League footballers. If probably cost a million at the very most.

Depends on who you have on the books and the case.

Sky are claiming SP is still going to keep fight so the cost will continue madness.

For me this shows the fight of someone who has messed up and just wont hold hands up learn from the mistake.

A thought that came to mind: in the sequence of events past, present and future, did Parish have to go to appeal against UEFA's initial decision first before beginning litigation against Textor? Did Parish suspect or was he advised by his legal team that the appeal would likely fail? If so why then did he take it up? To sue Textor at a later date?

It's more concerning about the effect this decision might have on our players and the manager, who did all they could to qualify - if we'd been offered European competition at any level a year ago they'd have been well happy but now they might be more inclined to leave.
Without being overly dramatic this could completely derail the club.

Well, that's a surprise! Still, I'm happy with two new shiny pieces of silverware and some European football, even if it feels we've been cheated.

It'll be a bunfight at Selhurst in a couple of weeks time. Hope we beat the suckers.

I think Ollie had a pretty good idea how this would go and he seemed fairly blase about playing in the Conference if that's how the decision went.

I'm optimistic that we'll go from strength to strength (assuming Ollie stays!!)

Un utter disgrace and a sad day for football. I hope we don't take this lightly and give UEFA hell.

It was a dream come true to qualify for Europa League and it's been taken away a for a Mickey Mouse competition which shouldn't even exist in my opinion. It's no consolation. I had remained optimistic throughout in the expectation that common sense and integrity would prevail. There is no way this would have happened to one of the big clubs - as we have seen in the past.

I'm sure I'm not the only Palace fan who had no idea we had an affiliation with Lyon until this sorry saga began. We have a chairman who has been vocal in his disapproval of MCO's. To be replaced by a club who haven't earned it - who genuinely are a MCO - just adds salt to the wound.

It feels this could have been a turning point in our history as we take the next step forward. Now, I expect some players who might have stayed, will leave, and players who might have wanted to join, won't.

Forest fans must be ashamed to qualify in this manner. We've ended up the losers in all this after they bottled their Champions League push. I suspect it will be hostile when they visit in a couple of weeks. F*** UEFA and Marinakis.

Come on. I expect a few overly emotional responses to the news but seriously?
Do you think that the players, on the pitch during the FA Cup final were thinking about the Europa League? I doubt it very much. Surely the importance of the moment was to win and lift the trophy on the day, the same as yesterday, win the trophy. Improving our overall position in the Premiership is far more important than a one-off jolly into Europe.

I did some sums. If SP had 4 lawyers working for £1000 an hour each they would have had to spend 30 days full time on this to rack up £1m. Even double it and it’s peanuts when you compare it to transfer fees.

Unlike others I can't take any consolation for being in a 3rd rate Mickey Mouse European competition.
Or to dress it up and saw the club would have taken any available European place this season at the start of last season .

It's all irrelevant.

We won the FA Cup fairly and should be in the Europa.
End of story.
UEFA look ridiculous at best, corrupt at worst.

I am totally disgusted by this abhorrent decision.
UEFA supposedly set the rules to prevent clubs with common owners from competing in the same competition for obvious reasons. In the past, clubs with the same owners have played in the same competition and in the same groups.
Textor has left, there is no longer any conflict of interest with Lyon and yet UEFA have banned us from competing in the Europa League over the matter pertaining to a date they set well in advance of the start of the competition. We won the FA Cup which was an entry into the EL, we have no linkage with Lyon yet UEFA demoted us to the Conference League. They have been totally discredited.
Well done to Kaveh Solhekol for his comments on SKY this morning.
😡 😡 😡

Disappointing outcome but not really unexpected. Forest win in the court room, but we still have two trophies to our name this year. Strangely this outcome might be a blessing in disguise. I don't think we have a big enough squad to compete properly in both the Europa league and premier league. We may be able to rest some key players on Thursday nights when we play against some of the smaller European teams (provided we qualify of course).
