Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

And finally the decision that everyone expected has been revealed.

EUFA is a corrupt as f*ck, the rules are all set up for the big boys to benefit from and bollocks to the rest of the football pyramid. Our set up of ownership with decisive control not being the same as percentage of ownership is far too removed from anything that they envisaged coming across their doormat, as they simply don't expect teams the size of Palace to win anything anymore.

Rules aren't fit for purpose and loop holes everywhere for anyone with enough money and expectation on qualifying for Europe to exploit. The blind trust thing is absolute dogsh!te and why would Textor put his shares into that when he was actively trying to sell them, we weren't exactly setting the league on fire and nowhere near thinking we'd be in the final, let alone win the cup!

I think the CAS will chicken out, no doubt after a nice slap up meal on EUFA's expense.

But, we're still in Europe, we won the FA CUP, Brighton have f*** all and given how all of Forest's star players seem to be on the way out, I'm hopeful they fall flat on their faces and be out of Europe as soon as possible. Should be an interesting first home game for us if that fat wanker Marinakis makes an appearance....

It's YOU-AY-FA UEFA

Can't believe football fans need telling this.

I don't know. To some extent I was only ever interested in the FA Cup so I was happy anyway, but given this felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in Europe then I am just happy we aren't out completely.

And we'll appeal so either we'll get our place back or have this as a fall back. It's a folly, granted, and a tournament that shouldn't exist, but hey ho, they didn't chuck us out out.

They did chuck us out.

If you read the HYS section on their 'breaking' news, they are loving it as well as Br1-3ton fans, as you'd expect. Now, what i'd like to know, before this announcement Palace were directly into the league phase of the EL & Forest were into the 3rd round qualifying for the ConL. As our positions have been reversed (for now), do we still go into the league phase for the ConL & where do Forest go into the EL?

Time will tell, i guess.

Worse cheats than City

FROM THE UEFA MEDIA SITE :

The First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body has concluded the proceedings on the multi-club ownership case involving Crystal Palace (ENG) and Olympique Lyonnais (FRA).

The CFCB First Chamber had opened proceedings against Crystal Palace and Olympique Lyonnais due to a potential conflict with the multi-club ownership rule provided for in Article 5 of the UEFA Club Competitions Regulations.

On 9 July 2025, the appeal instance of the French financial control authority (DNCG) decided not to relegate Olympique Lyonnais to Ligue 2. Consequently, and following an assessment by the CFCB of all the other relevant conditions included in the settlement agreement, Olympique Lyonnais will not be excluded from the 2025/26 UEFA club competitions (see media release of 30 June 2025).

Consequently, the CFCB First Chamber pursued the assessment of the documentation submitted by Olympique Lyonnais and Crystal Palace and concluded that the clubs breached, as at 1 March 2025, the multi-club ownership criteria foreseen in Art 5.01 of the UEFA Club Competition Regulations.

For this reason, and in accordance with the provisions set in Art. 5.02, 5.03 and 5.04 of the UEFA Club Competitions Regulations, the CFCB First Chamber decided:

• To accept Olympique Lyonnais’ admission to the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League; and

• To reject Crystal Palace’s admission to the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League and to accept Crystal Palace’s admission to the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League.

The present decision may be appealed against before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in accordance with Articles 62 and 63 of the UEFA Statutes.

Purely on a practical point. If it stays like this I think we might have the following games:

21st Aug UEFA Conference qualifying
24th Aug Premier League vs Forest (H)
28th Aug UEFA Conference qualifying

Whatever happens I think history will be kind to us, one more stone hitting the dam... one day it might break.

We need a f***ing great tifo of Mr Creosote in a greek shirt, with the waiter as UEFA, feeding him money

So if fat boy at Forest had no say in how the club was run, what the hell was he doing on the pitch chasing the manager hurling abuse at him. A normal fan would have done time for that.

Worth reporting to the police to investigate. He can't sit there and tell everyone it's ok cos he's the owner, because he wasn't.

I suppose the argument is, and will continue to be, why would we take the blind trust route if Textor did not have decisive control of Palace?

I may be mistaken but there is a UEFA definition of what decisive control means and I’m not sure we meet that criteria.
You may well be justified in reaching that conclusion, but sadly UEFA are in the driving seat in terms of determining this.

We can all see the rules are nonsense, even if they are well intentioned in terms of preventing conflicts where there is potential for teams in the same multi ownership group competing in the same competition.

None of us believe we fall into this category with Lyon, but in the Alice in Wonderland world of football administration, fairness is not really a consideration.

Hopefully CAS will tell EUFA to f off. They we're only concerned about restoring Lyon to the top league as competition as otherwise it would be even weaker than it already is. What annoys me is that decison though is irrelevant. The multi ownership is the only point and Textor unlike the Greek at Forest had no real influence at all on Palace policies. Textor has only been trying to sell his shares for 10 months!!! So what happens when EUFA realise that Brondy and Palace have joint owners? It will probably be news to EUFA. "Err, you mean there are joint owners?Ooh la la, monsieur!!"

The saga will go on whilst Palace remain in no mans land!!!

OMFG another one.

Do we have a dyslexic fanbase?

Politely and strongly disagree. European football experience, fan awaydays, increased revenue for the club, increased awareness for the best club in the world, potential to get a place in the Europa League if we win. If we do well we would enjoy it.
Urgh the ZDS would have to get brought up again. No No No the ZDS was just one big embarassment and only mattered at the time as we had won nothing else. You could only compete in the Full Member's Cup if you failed to make it into Europe - it was for the 'also rans'. Whereas you can only compete in Europe if you have won a domestic cup or done well in a league position.
Qualifying for Europe is a sign of success, qualifying for the ZDS was a sign of failure. Oh and it was all of 34 years ago as well, leave it there. We need a HOL swear box asap!

Keep your fingers crossed and we could get relegated twice, then be in a GREAT POSITION for the LDV Vans Trophy. Wonderful, a cup experience, fan-tast-tico

🙄

What disgusts me is the silence from the FA. We won their cup and they should be backing us. The dogs in the street knew Textor was selling shares precisely because he had no say in running the club. The FA know this and should inform Forest they won’t be nominating them for the Europa
League as it is an award for winning the FA’s competition.
