Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

81 pages in we're none the wiser.

Lot's of guesswork, speculation, argument and rumour on these pages - but nothing really concrete.

Some journalists are claiming that Palace are 'confident ' that they will be clear to play in Europe, while others suggest that we could well be found in breach.

Meanwhile, no official comment on the matter from either the club or the authorities.

I anticipate we'll find out on Monday.

If we lose - and then appeal- roll on to the next 81 pages on the topic.

It would kill the time until the season starts I suppose.

what i gather is Palace may have infringed the weaselly UEFA. My own very recent experience of Court, is that judges don't tend to like people who are not straight-talking with business deals. They like Claimants and Defendants to play with a straight bat.
On that basis, if it goes against Palace, I don't think UEFA would be able to stand scrutiny going to CAS. That's why UEFA will want to swerve CAS

And the postman has just been to my house. And he left this 😀

Unfortunately for you, this is where our neighbours on the coast outdo your efforts. They have 25,000 or so mugs in the Amex every other weekend.

Controversial i know, but is it a blessing in disguise if we don’t get in, we are woefully unprepared for 4 competitions, with Internationals and the AFCON, what I don’t want is to rush in and buy 4/5 substandard players, just to bulk the Squad out, winning the F.A Cup has got the monkey off our back, keep building sensibly, and we will qualify though the league next season, it’s been a minefield for many clubs in the past.

Not controversial at all. You paint a very accurate picture of what the realities of competing in Europe are. The more successful you become, the more you need to spend just to maintain your current position.

That's twice today you have been 'sensible', stop it.

Agree with you tho.

Mixed emotions on this - it's a genuine concern but unfortunately it feels like a sour grapes reaction. Probably because of the enquiry taking some of the excitement out of it and it feels diminished now.
A few teams have come seriously unstuck playing these games. Still, playing in Europe is what we've been aspiring to for so long so if we do get in let's try to make the most of it.
I know...what a miserable git.

I never knew, VAR was involved in qualifying

I share your concerns. Add to them that we are not one of the big guns in the national league (most of the other teams playing in Europe are and wouldn't even get relegated if they play their youngsters at home while in Europe) and the missing winter break in the PL and the minefield looks even more dangerous.

Girls stop now 82 pages with why and why nots , lets see Monday before we riot in Switzerland outside there mullti million luxury headquarters , i will take all there Toberones see how they like that😊😊😊

Clubs across europe spend nowhere near as much, have far lower wage bills and far lower income than premier league clubs. I wouldn't feel too sorry for us.

82 pages of speculation. No transfers. No news.

I can’t believe after last seasons lack of pre season we are hung up again on nonsense and our pre season planning is taking a nose dive.

Can only hope that the board are ready to push the button as soon as the decision is known. Oh the joys of being a palace supporter

It's Palace & Hol - what else did you expect....................

I don’t necessarily agree with this. We don’t have to go balls out for anything other than the Premier League. If we pick up 4/5 new players and lose 2 which sounds quite feasible we can chop and change our squad to suit. We don’t have to play our strongest team in every competition.

Glasner isn’t stupid, he knows how to manage small squads and I personally do not see any downside in playing in the Europa League. I may be wrong but I don’t think there is Afcon this
coming season, which would be a blessing.

UEFA have always said that they gave clubs plenty of notice to comply with MCO regulations. It was reasonable for Textor, in particular, to seek proper legal advice, and clearly he had an obligation to do so. If it were not reasonable, and they had acted appropriately, we wouldn't be in this situation.

This has got nothing to do with progression, or potential progression in the FA Cup.

The evidence regarding potential disciplinary measures is that they were not convinced that Textor had acted reasonably or appropriately, which strongly indicates the CFCB are heading towards disciplinary measures. Bear in mind, they have access to a lot more background information and data, than would be available to the public. These are closed meetings, hence the need to read between the lines.

And how else can it be interpreted regarding the 25% voting share that Textor had? Once the CFCB were not going to accept that argument, and deliver their verdict in our favour, then clearly something else is a subject of deep concern to them.

Figuring all this out from UEFA's perspective does not mean that I am contradicting what I am saying, still less supporting their position in one paragraph and criticising it in another. I don't believe changing the deadline date to the 1st March served any reasonable purpose. Having said that, UEFA have signalled their concerns over MCO by ensuring that clubs that do come under this type of ownership need to take this matter very seriously, which John Textor was negligent in doing, otherwise he would be flagging up the legal advice he should have sought from the ECA.

As for Notts Forest registering their intent before the 1st March, I have not read that in any article that they did this; but if you are right, then good for them for complying on time.

But as for them supposedly just seeking clarification by registering a concern, my gut instinct tells me it is disingenuous and unethical of them to be doing that. They have no right to be interfering - if they benefit, they benefit; if they don't, they don't.

However, if they do take our place, well good for them for finishing higher than us in the league (which is a greater, if less prestigious, achievement than winning the FA Cup) and also for registering their intent before the 1st March and getting the blind trust registered before the 30th April.

As for the consolation points, I still stand by my second point. The third point is valid if you want to perceive this through a somewhat romantic notion of being cast out into the wilderness, and the refiner's fire of injustice tempers the metal into a hardened and steely resolve; but I do accept that somewhat poetic and subjective viewpoint will not appeal to everyone.

Finally, I commend you for your self-restraint in remaining polite.
Why would an owner put their shares in a blind trust firstly when they are trying to sell them and secondly purely on the off chance that their team is going to win a Cup which they have never done in their history and thirdly it happens to coincide with another team that they have shares in qualifying for the same tournament.

Also a bit bizarre, is that the date to put shares into trusts was changed to before the end of the season thereby preventing any team from waiting until season end to complete documentation for what is, let’s face it, a work around. Would any right minded owner give up their control or voting rights on the basis a perfect storm of events might possibly happen.

The only clear thing to come out of this is that UEFA’s rules and regulations are ambiguous and not fit for purpose. They are not compatible whatsoever with multi club ownership and yet they support multi club ownership. It is very bizarre.

I’ve got one of those, love it 😎🦅
Great debate but I want to know what the FA is doing to support Palace. It is their competition, The FA Cup, that it appears UEFA is trying to demean by preventing their winners from competing in the Europa League. After all, it was set up to accommodate the champions from each member’s cup competition as well as the ‘losers’ from their leagues. It would be disgraceful if the English winner of the world’s oldest football competition was denied entry.
