Palace Fans Against Racism

I’ve already said what I think earlier on in the thread. The group in question here are absolute wrong’uns that have tempered the atmosphere on the European trips I’ve done this season.

They can have whatever political views they want, just leave them at home, especially when they’re representatives of the club when the spotlight is on us in Europe.
Not the group you are defending then, I take it?

I guess it's fair point on semantics there. But the outcomes aren't symmetric here. One side routinely de-platforms and cancels on any disagreements. The other mostly argues back. That's where the tolerance gap differs. 😉

Am I a "racist" for being concerned about illegal immigration? If I voiced my concerns on the BBS. How long do you think I would last?
I’m very concerned about legal immigration (Like a lot of us). What does that make me?

I have no doubt as to the accuracy of your claims. I do not need to try.

As I think we can both agree any public debate will cause and allow extreme views on either side to come into it. As I said the stop the boats element was ill-advised in my opinion. I do think that element of the OP's message has been seized on (and quite rightly challenged) but likewise that element should not be used to disregard the entirety of his point or message.

That's fair. I think the OP's core framing was flawed from the start, so the pushback was fair in my opinion aswell.

Surely a picture of millwall fans/ players as a monkey is racist?

Society will always have its bad eggs, no matter their background/culture you will get people that do 'racist' things. Just as you will have rude, selfish, ignorant people that offend people other ways.

Society will never be perfect.

As someone said earlier, you can agree and disagree on politics - the latter shouldn't always be labelled as racist either.

Right now, the system is broken and there are frustrated people.. doesn't excuse a collection of them for the insults and way they express themselves.

It's quite simple... at a place game, if you see something, hear something that you disagree with, call it out. There's stewards and staff and other good supporters around you.. that will stamp it out.

So to summarize.. there are indeed bad people that will display racist behaviour.. call it out at the time, report them.. that will do the job..

But I gotta say, palace fans in my opinion are the least racist and indeed the most welcoming fans I have known... you just have to look at where it's based and the star players we have had for decades...

Just as a point of note. I do not believe anyone called anyone on here racist. I think it was challenged that `having xyz vies does not make me a racist`. Of course correct me if someone did.

Agreed, in my experience it’s just been this one group who have been at the European games in my 25 odd years who have a season ticket.

The bit about standing up to them is fine, but in that Irish pub in Lublin especially so many of them were so drunk and coked up anyone who said anything would have got their heads kicked in.

Personally people saying things doesn't need to be called out. People can be offended by anything. Swearing for instance. Try stopping that at a match.

By asking stewards, police etc to do something about it, we are doing two things.

Firstly we are giving more power to authorities who ultimately don't answer to us and that quite obviously, if we are paying attention, hate us.

Secondly by doing that we lose the power to do something ourselves.

Calling out "rascism" is to some extent racist itself. The person is saying this group is weak and needs help. They are in fact saying that they are inferior. That is the true definition of rascism.

I just wish everyone would grow up and stop being offended by silly things.

We are all adults deal with it. Yes if it upsets a kid do something perhaps, otherwise chill.

In all my years as a palace fan the only time I have ever witnessed racism from our fans was the fella at the spurs game doing the eyes thing to Song.

What about my mate from Croydon of Sri Lankan heritage being called a P*ki while just walking past this group?

Should he have to just ‘deal with it’ on a European away day? Or just ‘chill’?

And that was funny. A stupid thing to do, but still funny.

If a Asian person or black man made a joke about a white person's face; what would our reaction be?

We all know the answer. We'd all go I couldn't give a toss and laugh at it.

Certain groups have allowed themselves to give their power away. I think that some may be jealous of whites because this sort of thing doesn't bother us but destroys them.

Let's all see if we can all laugh at ourselves

Call someone a gammon on here and watch the collective fuse board blow.

Thinks the OP has successfully turned this thread into another right v left N& P thread.

The left won't let this go, hey ho, let's keep politics IN football/sport if you are of that failing persuasion.

Defending what was a a group who were the pride of Palace & supporters, has now turned into an expensive(over £135k in fines to the club, from the start of last season) embarrassment. Why they can't get back to do what was the envy of the EPL/Europe?

Dan, get off the keyboard son, it's dinnertime & you got a paper round in the morning

No he hasn’t, he got the usual HOL treatment for anyone that dares to be not right wing.
