Palace Fans Against Racism

What about my mate from Croydon of Sri Lankan heritage being called a P*ki while just walking past this group?

Should he have to just ‘deal with it’ on a European away day? Or just ‘chill’?

Yes Dan, deal with it.

It's only in your mates mind to how he deals with it. That's where he gains his true power.

Personally abuse is abuse. Racist abuse is no worse than any other abuse. It's subjective to the individual receiving it.

You can't stop a group behaving like that.
In the end no one will say anything to anyone such will be the fear.

What set me partially free in life was to stop caring what others thought about me.
That said I can still be a quite an aggressive person. But then I can see that's my problem not the other person giving me a hard time.

Racism isn't the only thing people have to deal with on a personal level in their life.

Wow. OK. I fundamentally disagree with you.

I find it a sad state of affairs when a mate of mine can’t travel abroad to watch Palace without getting abuse for his skin colour/ethnicity and facing intimidating behaviour because of it, but you do you.

Call someone a gammon on here and watch the collective fuse board blow.
Only to point out the double standard.

We don't care about being called gammon. Just the double standard.

White people couldn't care less if they are racially abused. They are always secure in their skin with regards to that.

This is why I feel so sorry for black and brown people. The authorities have really done a number on them to make them feel inferior. They are most certainly not.

The way forward would be for everyone to be like whites when it comes to dealing with rascism.

I'm not saying whites are better than anyone; but they are at dealing with this sort of thing

The entire N&P section of this board is one massive case study to prove this isn’t true 🤣🤣🤣

It is sad that your mate got abuse. I didn't say it was a good thing. It's terrible . I'm not sure what you've read into my comments to suggest you think I agree with the abuse.

I'm pointing out that it's all in the mind.

Nothing is stopping your mate from travelling but himself.

When I had very serious mental problems; (inset joke here) the very things I would worry about would be discovered by others and become real. I created my own nightmare reality.

If we keep giving our power away to others they will keep taking it.

I don't know your mate, but he maybe lacking in a bit of confidence or is angry with the world.

No one gives me any shi# anymore. What changed? My mind.

I'm saying all this to help people. This is how it's done.

Only just read it but so predictable as soon as I saw the thread title.

Been at a few of the European trips and witnessed some of the behaviour, language and chants that the group in question used first hand.

Absolutely no interest in supporting Palace; just singing political songs and creating a nasty and intimidating atmosphere for others, including families.

People can debate as to whether particular stickers or slogans are racist or not - still doesn’t stop this group being utter wrong’uns that have caused problems for the club (with several banned from travelling).
From the river to the sea ?

It's a shame none of the proper nut cases (actually, I think that is a discriminatory term isn't it? Feel free to educate me) are here to add any proper spice to this.

It's essentially become a few people telling people who weren't racist anyway not to be racist.

Would've been more fun to see the reaction of some racists.

I remember certain fans took it upon themselves in Strasbourg to answer alleged "racism" with violence. This is also not the answer whatever you way the define what racism is.

Like a poster said earlier report it to the club or authorities if you witness racist behavior. Be the bigger person walk away and report it. The club or police will then investigate.

Is calling someone a P*ki unprovoked not racism to you, then?

If I was a grown up man still giving a toss about what others thought about me; I should feel bloody ashamed.

I say all this in utter compassion for the weak and in the hope they find spiritual divinity.

I never said you agreed with it, just the OP has got pelters for trying to take an active approach to eliminating him and others having to deal with similar from fellow fans when watching Palace.

He can deal with the abuse. That doesn’t mean he should have to experience it.

Sorry to hear about your health issues btw, hope you’re in a better place now.

I'm more than fine now, thank you mate.

I'm 55. I was referring to when I was in my early 20s.

I know my words may come across as a little brutal. But as you know life is tough and we have to deal with things ourselves.

Everything I say is with utter and total compassion. Like yourself I'm sure.

With regards to abuse against people of Asian heritage.

Many families came from Pakistan and India and started businesses back in the 70s in particular.

I always found them to be most humble. This is perhaps part of the reason they got abuse. Much more than black people did in my experience of observing life.

From this I'm guessing many of their children would have seen the abuse their parents got and are now not so humble.

All very sad.

What about fat people or ginger people? Do you get upset on their behalf or is it just black people (if of course I’m allowed to call them that) ?

Does it really bother him? I've never believed that anyone above the age of 15 really gets upset over being called a name. When I was skinny I used to get called a big eared c*** but it stopped bothering me when I got some hair around my nuts.

I don’t think anyone should get any abuse for any physical or mental traits that they have no control over.

That said, I did once call someone a ‘bald c*nt’ on the football pitch in the heat of the moment. Turned out he had alopecia…😬

But he was bald and at that moment a c***. You didn’t care he had a condition.
In the heat of the moment is a cop out. You meant it !
