Ousmane Diomande

There couldn’t have been much of a deal going on , if as reported his club have bumped the price up another 10 million Euro,s. They are just fishing. It makes him as expensive as Geuhi, can,t see us being that desperate. That’s if we ever had more than a passing interest.

Reluctantly have to concede that's fair enough though. He's their player and they want to maximise their profit.

Don't think we need the sale money to buy Guehi as we're nowhere near being in trouble re PSR. The problem may be that if we buy Diomande and Guehi stays we have an issue re our starting CBs. Does Glasner really want to drop Richards or Lacroix to make room for the new man? I suspect not and we can't afford to have our most expensive signing sitting on the bench.
I think he would drop Guehi unless he signs new contract. Guehi then has a choice to make sign with release clause, go to highest bidder or wait and potentially lose England place

No way would Guehi be dropped.

For me it shows Guehi true colours he should have signed an extension last year when Newcastle deal didn't go through which I would like to know if it was SP or Guehi who didn't like that 70m+ deal.

He will walk for free.

Disgusting

It's why I don't pay much heed to the player worship that goes on.

Even Jim Cannon, a club legend of whom Palace can be genuinely proud, would have moved on if the right opportunity was there.....It's not even as if you can blame him, as football it's a job that's over for many in 10-15 years if you're one of the lucky talented ones.

For me a club is its loyalists and ever presents......the fans, the time and place....if you are lucky the club CEO, as we are in Parish and co....much more responsible than any individual player for where we are.

A club is its set up for that season, the people....and it'll always be changing, no club is exactly the same from year to year. Those who were there for the FA Club win experienced something special that most will never see....They were Palace as much as the players.

Players come and go.....We are a stepping stone for our best players and indeed our current manager.

Guehi....nice guy by all accounts....but it's transactional.

The art of the deal....snakes and ladders....and we have been rather successful on the ladders.

Why ‘should’ he have signed an extension? What’s the benefit to him?

Probably because his agent wants a move no matter what. As it stands unless the fee is right for Palace it can’t happen , if he extends that remains the same for longer. If his form remains good him and the agent will get a really big signing on fee for next season.
If he doesn’t go this summer it could be Palace might push the issue come Christmas , in the mean time they must really rate him as they don’t seem in any hurry to get him out.

He would have had a pay bump and could have done like Olise put in release clause.

Yes it's a business but these people need to show some respect Palace has given him a chance and made him what he is otherwise he most likely would have been another Chelsea player left to rot.

Adding 1 year extension that is all agents dont control players they still have final say.

If he does go for free that is bad business from the club when twice they had chance to get around 70m for him.

He could have had an immediate pay bump, but he decided not to - release clauses don't guarantee anything, as we're seeing with Eze at the moment.

As it stands, Guehi will get a considerably bigger pay bump next year when he signs somewhere as a free agent.

He's shown nothing but respect for Palace, but I don't think 'respect' extends to signing a contract you don't want to sign. With Guehi's talent, I don't think there was ever a risk he'd rot anywhere, and if it wasn't us, he would've got plenty of chances elsewhere.

We don't know what offers have been made - £70m could be pure fantasy for all we know and Newcastle were actually trying to get a deal done for way less than that. Aren't you always going on about how unreliable these sort of stories are?

Secondly, we just won our first ever major trophy, and Guehi was a major part of that - I'm sure neither he, nor anyone at the club, regrets turning down whatever offer was made last summer.

I agree it's bad business from the club to let him go for free, but as you said, the club made the decision to turn down offers last year - that has nothing to do with Guehi. He may well have signed for Newcastle if the club accepted an offer.

To suggest he's shown his 'true colours' and is 'disgusting' is childish nonsense.
