Ousmane Diomande

What I would add to my original post, if Guehi won’t sign an extension to cover us (we could even set a low buy out of say £50 million which would not put off any of the bigger clubs he would be interested in and if it did why would he want to play for that club?) then I would 100% strip him of the captaincy as it should be an honour and not to be bestowed upon somebody waiting to leave.
Take your rose-tinted glasses off, why on earth would he do that? Running down his contract works out best for him, he gets guaranteed football before the World Cup and a big, fat juicy contract, moving to the club of his choosing

Hence we need to do what is best for our club at this pivotal stage!!! Let’s start by trying to sign this very talented player then see how the dominos fall.

Marc then makes the career decision on what he wants to risk versus gain (ie WC etc?). He maybe frozen out if Ousmane is that good.

He seems a very reasonable and principled player so hopefully he decides to move on this summer to the club of his choice and we re urge fair compensation for his talents!

Realistically, we kinda need Marc to go.

I know a few are in favour of letting him wind his contract down, but I'm not sure we can really afford to be letting that happen. Sell him for £50m spend it on Diomande. And hope he can hit the ground running.
Not agreeing or disagreeing, but how much revenue has Guehi been pivotal in generating for us and how much more could he help us make if we had a strong season next year with him at the back?

Almost certainly not a £50m offset, but I don't necessarily think of him running down his contract as a loss of the full transfer fee...

But just imagine what the club could do with fifty million gay pounds.

Sounding very much like Liverpool want him. Maybe even get £60m.

If it made the difference to us winning the Europa cup it would be worth it, but its a team game. Would we have won the cup without him? Hard to tell.

Absolutely agree. If we are genuinely in with a shout of getting Diomande and the club are convinced he's the right man then we should sign him and then, assuming Marc stays, give OG the problem of team selection. Slightly different situation but I remember how split the boards were when we signed Henderson and had Johnson who was ahead of him in the England pecking order. I'm pretty sure that most of us would have Henderson over Johnson now.

Yep he's bee amazing for us. And would continue to be.

I'm just of the POV now of why delay the inevitable. Take the money while its offered and move on. Especially if the early conversation with Diomande are good.

Don’t forget a fair chunk of any fee for MG will go to Chelsea as part of their original sell on clause.

At this point I’d love to see the reinvestment of any fee we manage to get for him put into quality additions- by all accounts Diomande fits that bill.

Any criticism the club has received for letting MG’s contract enter the last year is totally undermined by the amazing season we’ve just had - with him very much at the heart of it.

Exactly this

Sometimes it just happens. Players want power to choose these days. A sensible release clause would allow him sign another contract.

Also spurs got 100 million for Harry Kane in the last year of his contract.

20% of any profit.

Assuming we paid c£20m for him if we sell for £40m Chelsea get £4m and at £50m they get £6m.

A decent amount, but not sure it could be defined as a fair chunk.

Make the b****** sit on the bench in a hair shirt only a couple of games on from lifting the FA Cup for us

🤣
