Our best eleven

One thing I was thinking this morning was who we leave out of matchday squads. A big call that we've never really had to make before. We have Riad, Sarr (Hmm), and Mateta, who are the only injuries so far. That leaves us with 27 fit players!

If our starting line-up at the moment consists of
Henderson
Khalili, Richards, Disasi, Canvot, Mitchell
Kamada, Wharton
Nketiah, Pino
Strand Larsen

Subs: Benitez, Mingueza, Ahanor, Chilwell, Hughes, Timber, Guessand, Osorio, McNeil

That means we leave out: Lerma, Tomiyasu, Doucoure, Gozo, Franca, Rak-Sakyi (probably going to leave anyway), Matthews

Henderson in goal … otherwise I have no idea on how Sage intends to set the team up on Saturday. If believed Sarr and Mateta are still injured and then when fit, they might be on naughty step, so can’t see either of them walking into the starting 11 quite yet. Irrespective, it’s going to be interesting on Saturday.

Would have Gozo on the bench

Just a hypothetical side, but that is partly my point. Plenty of options and not everyone can be involved. Some real quality and some international footballers are going to be left in the dark on a gameday for once.

dont think we will get away with 12 players 😊
It's just that kind of talk that's endemic on this forum now. People just putting down criticisms and negativity whilst ruling out the kind of clever suggestions tacticians like me throw out.

As has been said, we'll get nowhere if we keep fielding 11 players every week. Not least because it's predictable and exactly what Glasner would have done.

We will have a second squad needed for the Europa and Cups. Between 10 and 30 games for them. 38 for the EPL squad. Obviously some will play both but all will get plenty of game time, more once injuries mount.

Agree , it’s a bit of a weird obsession for Sprites I think.

I remember when Hennessy was absolutely pony and there was a poster that thought we was the second coming of Gordon Banks, had to mention him on every thread.
Like Sprites was with Hughes, lately it’s been Dacoure, think now it will be Timber. Anyone but Kamada it would seem.

Yeah, pretty much to be honest. Won’t deny it.

But i take that on board - appreciate it can be over the top. Dont even realise im doing it.

A. There was a world cup which delayed transfers by weeks.
B. Palace signed 5 players very early in the window.
C. 35% of all clubs transfers take place on the last day, we are no different.

Happens every year. Not just when the world cup or euros are on.

What's great about our transfer window is that the options are so varied now that we can't really be sure who Sage will pick and I bet we have a few surprises coming.

I'd say Henderson, Khalaili, Mitchell, Disasi, Wharton and Sarr and are guaranteed starters if fit. Everyone else, including Mateta, might have to contest their place under the system Sage purportedly goes for.

And we've wanted this pretty much since we came up.

That’s true, the team used to pick itself, but who knows what the team will be today!! 😳
