Our best eleven

Your hate for Kamada is so transparent! At least you've stopped calling for Hughes to replace him though!
As I’ve repeatedly stated, i don’t hate Kamada at all. I just don’t think he’s a very good footballer at this level - nothing to do with him personally. We’ve conceded 6 goals this season and scored 1…starts and ends with the centre midfield.

And for the record, I’d still have Hughesy in every day of the week over Daichi. He’s slower and less technical sure, but he sure as hell wouldn’t let people waltz past him the way DK does.

Cheers

you criticise someone for speaking with such certainty and then do the same!!

Wharton and Kamada are both internationals too, as it Lerma. Not all can start.

Let's see how things go - Timber looks a better fit in a 433 IMHO
Haha fair call. My bad.

Seems odd to me that Kamada is letting so many of these players waltz through compared to Hughes and yet last season in the prem he made 63 tackles to Hughes 27, and won 116 duels to Hughes 79. While Hughes managed 7 yellow cards to his 3. He also managed this with higher short and long pass completion, higher xG and higher xA.

Do you have a crystal ball do you? You speak with such certainty. There’s no way we bring a Dutch international like Timber to the club and sit him on the bench. He comes straight in alongside Wharton I’d have thought and hoped.
Is Timber is definitely completion for Kamada but wasn’t at the World Cup due to injury so can see him having to play his way into contention

It's obviously impossible to say what our best 11 is at the moment with so many new faces, players stropping, mysterious injuries etc.

We now have a lot of competition for places which will hopefully up performance levels and we have to trust that the new boys will add more quality that what we currently have (otherwise why would we have added them).

It's going to take time to gel and also it's a big ask for the coaching team. I think they need to focus on points rather than performances for the next two games and then use the international break to further their own philosophies. This may take some tactical flexibility which I hope they're up for.

Our expectations of the new lads also has to be realistic...yes they're technically replacing Guehi, Lacroix, Munoz, possibly Sarr but they're going to need time to get anywhere near the levels those players reached. Hopefully they can get there though!

At the moment....

Henderson

Richards----Tomiyasu----Canvot

Khalali-----------------------------Mitchell

Wharton----Kamada

Sarr----------------------------------------Pino

---------------------Mateta---------------------

Henderson

Canvot - Disasi - Tomiyasu

Khalali - Wharton - Timber - Mitchell

Sarr - Mateta - Guessand

But obviously big hopes for Osario and Gozo to make an impact.
This is close - but think we’ll see once things settle down;

Henderson

Canvot Disasi Ahanor

Khalali Timber Wharton Mitchel

Osorio Sarr Pino

Reason for playing Sarr up top - Sage prefers a more mobile and interchangeable front 3 than Glasner. Also Sarr a better finisher than Mateta.

Them is my thoughts.

Decent and exciting XI though.

On another note Grand Larceny would be nowhere near my match day squad - both JPM and Nketiah ahead of him.

It's not going to happen, but I'd like to see a 433, with a midfield 3 of Wharton, Kamada, Timber and a front 3 of Sarr, Mateta and Osorio ( if he's any good!).
The full backs would be Khalaili and Mitchell.
I think there's creativity, balance, and goals in that team with plenty of options from the bench.
Where it all falls down is that I don't know who the centre backs would be.
Ideally Guehi and Lacroix....

The replies to this highlight the challenge we now have. We are two games in to a league season and have no real idea what our best eleven looks like. In fact we can all only agree on 6 nailed on starters in Hendo, Mitchell, Khalali, Wharton, Sarr and JPM if fit. Even then the latter two depends if their head is in the right place. Most would play Disasi and Kamada but we have no real consensus on the remaining two centre backs and the left sided attacker looks like names from a hat time.

It will take a few games to settle down which means in all likelihood leaving points on the table we could have been winning. Just feels like poor planning again by the club.

Yes this minus Mateta

Henderson

Richard’s - Disasi - Canvot

Khalali - Wharton - Timber - Mitchell

Sarr - Mateta - Kamada

Perhaps our new signings will surprise me and will be good enough to replace some of those above. I doubt it though ;-) At least we now have a stronger squad but alas our starting 11 is weaker than before? Unlike Glasner I think Sage will make substitutions earlier and use a bigger number of players. Well, let’s hope so 🙂

I love the way all of the best 11s have one or two of the new signings at most, yet still aren't as good as our best 11 a year ago.
I don't really see how Pino is currently in any best 11.

There's a difference between what's the best team for September and what'll be the team by the end of the season. Sage said himself before Everton that the players haven't learned his system yet and the last 5/6 signings are even further behind that learning curve.

For the next few games I expect it's

Henderson

Richards Disasi Canvot

Khalaili Kamada Wharton Mitchell

? ? - everyone either is either injured, sub-standard or brand new

JSL
Longer term I think only Henderson, Wharton and Mitchell are very secure. Everyone else has a question mark near them and competition for their place.

It’s a bit of a lucky dip at the moment, but I’ll go

Hendo

Richards
Disasi
Ahanor

Khalaili
Wharton
Timber
Mitchell

Sarr(if he gives his all)
Mateta (if he can start hitting the barn door with his banjo again)
Osorio

Like that team, Defence 100%, Midfield 100%, Front 3 Sarr, Left of the 3, Oroso/McNeil Right of the 3, and Nketiah for me in the centre, swapping with JSL, but as you said, dont think it will happen, but Old Sage might be a bit more flexible than i think, he's got 16 games left.
