Ollie must be the priority signing

Watching SSN and reading other media notes about how we are going to lose this person and that person. I have come to the conclusion that the absolute priority must be to get Ollie on board and on a longer contract.

This may take some serious magic and sleight of hand as I genuinely can't see him staying as he walked out on his last club because of there transfer policy (or rather lack of it) and we have hardly been backing him after he did the hard part and gave us our first (major) bit of silverware.

Watching our team yesterday it was clear that our starting 11 are in absolute sync with each other and with the boss (MG aside as he walked off with the hump for some reason).

That unity and this manager... we can give anybody and I do mean anybody a game. If Ollie wants to play Kamada over Hughes... I am going to trust him. If he wants to play Devenny over Esse (I would have gone for the later and switched Sarr over to the left where he tore England a new one for his country)... I trust him.

If we do lose MG and Eze, I trust we will be ok with Ollie at the wheel. However if he goes, I will be gutted because I think he will go without the urgently needed replacements plus some additional squad strengthening. I really can see us winning the conference and finishing comfortably in mid to high table this season and actually into Europe for a 2nd season (qualifying both ways... UEFA can do one but I'm sure they will find a way to kick us out twice) I also think that with Ollie we could smash the Europa too and get into the champions league, now wouldn't that be something for little old Palace for SE25.

Come on Steve and Co. Pull your fingers out. Do whatever you need to do to get this man onboard long term.... I beg of thee.

He won't sign for longer and I don't think any of us would blame him. Miss him and be disappointed, yes, but we will understand.
He made his desires clear, he made the optimum plan for the club and team clear - yet, the owners refused to notice. Equivalent to a slap in the face, and after everything he has done.
This kind of thing has happened to me in far lesser jobs and I've walked.
He could still walk anytime yet. Again, I wouldn't blame him and I doubt others would either. He's not been backed or even listened to.
I agree completely with your sentiment - he's our most important asset. Yet, Steve obviously thinks Southfake is fine, or Harry Potter who will also be available soon.
Steve thinks he's seen all manager stuff before and can handle it. Poor decision, frankly.

I agree he should have been the priority signing, but he's off. We can only hope its the end of the season and not before.

The board have not backed him, by getting transfers in early. Eze and Guehi were always likely to go.

Been our best manager, but he will get much better offers.

So Woody just dropped $190M on 43% of the club. Rumour is Harris wants to take that off him.
Why would our 3 top shareholders valued in excess of $20 BILLION be mad enough to make this kind of investment and then sell our best players, just when we are on a major upward trend.???
At this stage in the calendar, if these two go, why on earth would Glasner stay??
They are going nowhere. None of them.

Agree with the above to be honest. He is magic and probably well above us. I think he genuinely likes it at Palace but if he is not given the tools to work with and lets face it one of the big boys of Europe will be queuing for his services, I think its too late to keep him. Last season was a strange one with internationals and olympics etc and getting the players in late and there is an argument that with the whole Europe thing dragging its arse from May to August that Parish and the board had there minds on other things.

But that can be no excuse to not give the manager the tools he has asked for. He made it clear he wanted players in early to bed in. Now we have a very strong chance of having not 1 but 2 of our best players leaving as we are about to start our first ever journey into Europe.

I don't doubt that Ollie will get a tune out of what we have, I thought Esse was a natural successor to Eze but the fact he has been with us awhile now but gets no game time is telling and the fact that we are linked with other players in Eze's position. Shame because I like what I've seen (seems fearless).

If the 2 lads do not end up leaving and we do get our injured players back then I am sure we could manage but I don't think that stops Ollie leaving with a job well done at the end of the year. I then fear a Dyche or similar comes in and all the good work done will be lost. I will be gutted when he goes more than any player leaving.

Unfortunately, we are a stepping stone club to bigger clubs for successful managers and players. It's all related to finances, the bigger clubs have loads of money coming in from Europe, Match Day income, merchandise and sponsorships.
Look at Brentford, they had their manager and best 3 players pinched this summer and they finished 2 places higher than us last season, but don't have the same revenue streams of bigger clubs.

Brentford is a poor example how many cups have they won? have they played in Europe?

it's just like Tex kept saying lack of ambition OG wont put up with that otherwise i could see him staying at Palace.

All those others things can be gotten europe, match Day Income, Merchandise and Sponsors Chelsea/Man City prime examples you can buy all that if you have owners willing to put $$$$ into the club.

I personally think Oliver Glasner is the best manager Crystal Palace have ever had. For me if Guehi goes, Wharton goes and even Hendo and JPM go in this window I'll of course be gutted but the long term damage would be nothing compared to losing Glasner. Players come and go and while Managers do too quality managers are usually loyal and try to build something at least until an offer comes that they cannot refuse. In an ideal world I'd have loved the owners to sit down with Glasner and discuss a long term plan and lock him up in golden handcuffs for the duration of that plan.
Sadly Glasner has already told the owners what was needed before we even won the FA cup. It seemed that they listened and agreed to try to accommodate his requests. As he said recently 'this is not Oliver Glasner demanding this or that it is Oliver Glasner's advise if you want to move forward'.
The advise has not been heeded. They have not backed him. They have not replaced players they knew were likely to be leaving. They have not bought in any players that he told them we needed regardless of any departures except for Sosa.
He walked out on Frankfurt over similar issues/broken promises. Right now I'd be more concerned about whether he honors his existing contract than the chances of him agreeing a new one. Of course emotions were running high last night. Eze refusing to play, the team not getting the 2 or 3 goal cushion their performance deserved but he was visibly and obviously upset last night and he made his feelings very clear. The owners are not backing him at this moment in time.
Of course 3 or 4 players could arrive in the next week and they hit the ground running, no harm done and he returns to a more happy place at Palace but I would fear this could be the beginning of the end of the Oliver Glasner era. I truly hope I am wrong. As mentioned, I think he is the best thing to happen to our club for many years, prehaps ever.
I am disappointed more effort is not being made to provide him with what he needs to do his job.

If Vincent Company does not do well in the champions league this season. I expect Bayern to go after Glasner. I believe they enquired for him not long ago.

Wr are on the cusp of being a top 10 team and potentially another trophy. We have to grab this opportunity.

Maybe Nottingham Forest knew what they were doing getting that points deduction and buying more players.

Agree on all counts. It feels so strange to me that I can go from being so optimistic about this season to now fearing the wheels could come off long before Christmas. I expect us to overcome Fredrikstad next week but even that isn't a forgone conclusion. Losing that and being out of Europe at the first hurdle will be a disaster. If the owners ignore Glasner's plea and sell Guehi before Thursday we are stuffed at the back because the deadline has now passed to sign anyone new before Thursdays game meaning Lerma would have to play there with no back up defender on the bench.
This is not how a serious club operates. When you look at the players other clubs in our situation are signing its getting a bit embarrassing

Leipzig wanted OG. If they get off to a bad start I am almost certain they will be back.
(Klopp. Red Bull.)
We have been an absolute fiasco this summer.
The whole Textor thing. Then Uefa/Conference. The new stand....or not.
Then Woody buying in followed by Harris saying he wants it now.
Total failure to deliver early for Ollie, and now in the last week of the window, selling one or maybe two of our best players.
I dont think OG will walk, but if Leipzig return, he will be gone.
So many fans are at a loss to understand what is going on.

Apropos Guehi, the club cannot afford to allow him to depart on a 'Free', consequently there is every chance he will depart in this 'Window'.
