With Nuno expected to leave West Ham, I wonder if the board will revisit this option.

I don't think West Hams relegation should be put on him. The fact he managed to take it to the last game of the season was an achievement in itself.

Start of the season was awful under Potter and he didn't have a great squad either.

I remember us trying to get him previously, before it fell apart.
I think it's going to Iraola or the chap from France.

Hope it's not a long drawn out process with interview arfter interview.

Thought that NES managed West Ham for 34 league games this season so must shoulder a fair amount of the blame for their demise?

I agree with your point about a poor and disjointed squad.

Yes. All that would would be very nice. Could you also arrange for Selma Hayek to come round in a frisky mood while the wife is away for a week?

As much as I would like it I can't believe Iraola is coming here. His decision to leave Bournemouth indicates he wants more and we don't really offer it. Maybe puts us a bit up if we win Conference but if Liverpool sack Slot he's going there and if that doesn't happen pretty sure he will try to hold out for some upper level team with Champions League ambitions and that is not us. He is ambitious and that means someone sniffing around, or in, Champions League. We need to be realistic here. It's all bluesky.

After dropping out of the Champions League places on the last game of the season AC Milan have sacked Allegri and have apparently made contact with Iraola.

I still can't believe Liverpool would rather stick with Slot than go for Iraola either.

Whatever happens I'd be amazed if he ends up at Palace... But who knows!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the reason we haven't appointed a new manager is that they are under contract at another club and so will be announced after Wednesday.

If we have been waiting for Iraola to make up his mind I think we will be disappointed. I can't see he would think that Palace are a step up, we are in the same small pond as them.

If Iraola does take our job, either parish is the best spin doctor there has ever been in football and/or you would have to worry about Iraolo’s sanity 🤣

The rumour at the time was that he demanded parish to spend a lot of money bringing adama traore to the club during the interview process but SP wasn’t keen.

I thought it was more the prospect of Nuno wanting to bring in a coaching entourage of maybe 6 different hangers on, coaching disciplines, apart from the add on cost of all these people SP didn't want to consider the prospect of losing an entire coaching set up if Nuno didn't work out as a manager -

As is often the case I have probably only got half the story- -

I would imagine that if he takes the job at Palace (it does seem unlikely) it will probably turn out to be because of something a bit out of left field that suits him specifically as a person, probably something that most people (except his inner circle) wouldn't be aware of, rather than the main factors that pretty much everyone will have considered -

In any event I would really be pleased if he came but I dont think it will happen, I think we will end up with Thomas Frank or Steve Cooper.

Iraola has fallen out with the board at Bournemouth and likes the cut of Parish's gib and ambition.
AC Milan showing interest in an English manager and appoint Dyche in a shock move.
Liverpool get rid of Slot and appoint Scott Parker to improve their touchline image with his attire.

All as true as anything else posted on this thread!

You could be right there, maybe the bright lights of London would appeal, although maybe not South Norwood and Croydon 🤣Apparently Lombardo only came to us because his best mate Vialli at Chelsea said to him how great London was.
No offence to anyone living in South Norwood/croydon btw, because I’ve lived there myself

The most amazing thing for me is that the name of the new manager hasn’t been leaked yet, either only the board and the manager know or we haven’t got anyone yet.

Only last night when I was imbibing with my dear wife in a charming Public House garden, a supporter whom I had not spoken to for quite a while made rapid strides towards me and said "Tell me, what is going on ?" in relation to a managerial appointment.

Palace usually approach the signing of a new manager the same way as a new player: Aim as high as you realistically can, which means aiming for someone who might realistically hope for a bigger club than Palace.

The alternative is to settle for someone unproven or less impressive. The downside is, it usually requires us to wait whilst the bigger clubs put their affairs in order, just so our target knows he is not part of those plans. The potential reward might be an impressive arrival that makes a difference. The risk is that we get strung along (Nuno) and end up with a last-minute compromise.

Once in a blue moon it is possible to agree in advance with an out-of-work coach who happens to also be first choice, like Glasner. Mostly though, we have to play the game.

I don't expect Palace have got anyone lined up yet. As nice as it might be for the new man to have a say in signings, we use the director of football model. That doesn't suggest that we think we need a coach in place before we can make sales and signings. Not that I expect us to make signings quickly, either: See opening paragraph above.

Add in the World Cup delaying things, and I see little reason to anticipate early arrivals in the dugout or the pitch.

That said, there are reasons to think we might be sorted earlier than usual this time. (Firstly) we knew Glasner was going and so have at least had time to identify our preferred candidates; (Secondly) most of the big boys happen to have made their appointments early this year; (Thirdly) some of our apparent options are out of work at the moment.

Even so, if there is any truth at all to the reports that we have prioritised someone like Iraola then he'll still have some other, bigger options and we will still have to wait for his decision.

With Nuno expected to leave West Ham, I wonder if the board will revisit this option.

Yes, it was close, but Steve wouldn't commit to bringing Adama Traoré along with him, so he walked.

I'd still take both of them in a heartbeat. Send McCarthy out to stock-up on Johnson's Baby Oil ASAP.

The bookies are offering a million to one for the treble. 😆 😆 😆

Apropos clubs of such stature, the clubs Marco Rose has managed include Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, he has managerial experience in the Champions League.Bournemouth announced his appointment for the next campaign in April, 5 games before the end of the season.
