I never really thought that we would get Irola, no matter what money was put to him.

Given the news about Pep today, I could actually see him going into City. Maybe he knew something was afoot at City.

Hopefully, we have not put all our eggs in one basket.
City only take the top managers with a history of dealing with big clubs

I think a lot of the difficulty for myself, and maybe for other supporters, is that we have suddenly become a very attractive prospect for genuinely great managers and players. I mean, we're talking about being a candidate for one of the most exciting managers in Europe, we're talking about potentially winning two trophies, two years on the spin, including a potential European trophy no less... That's the stuff of dreams, or something you'd do on a Football Manager save.

Just feels so incredible that this is the reality for us at the moment. We're used to struggling in some ways, we've been let down at times, and this is a new stage for us entirely. I think a lot of it might simply be a bit of caution and wariness from the supporters. Disbelief as well, certainly on my end! Totally understandable on those fronts - this is all new for us.

But - there is no reason that we shouldn't believe Iraola might want to come to us. Based on our current position, as crazy as it is to say, we will potentially be one of the most exciting clubs for a manager to take on this summer.

Most managers are self preserving, they’ll be thinking of their own reputation when they go for interviews and they’ll be wanting to know how much money there will be to spend on players. If we’ve shot our bolt by spending £85 million on two players in January and there’s not a lot to spend unless we sell another one or two of our best players, we’re not going to be the exciting prospect you think. Hence Ollie’s outburst after the Sunderland game when his frustration’s got the better of him. I’m sure that will be playing on any managers mind when they come to us for an interview and SP will have to have his best spin doctor head on when any possible manager starts asking questions about who we might sell and how much is in the kitty

That game is massive for Palace, win and it is a good season and a better manager, lose and is a very poor season and a lesser calibre manager, big game, COYP.

When Henry Winter just asked where Iraola “might end up “ on talksport the other journo with him, Shaun Curtis, said quietly “we’ll, he’s meant to be going Palace”.

Hmm?!

This is my theory too.

Whoever it is, hopefully the deal has been done and will be announced AFTER our cup game. Probably, beginning of June.

This allows a proper pre-season to be structured, new players brought in, others allowed to leave etc.

Pre season is already arranged so even if we have manager in place or not it wont matter much also remember there is a World Cup taking place which will effect available players.

The same with players Palace will already have a list they work of no matter the manager.

This is how the clubs operates it has been confirmed by multi former managers.

I just want them to announce next manager already not keep waiting they have had plenty of time to sort something out.
