Dino Toppmoller is the latest name to be linked to replacing OG. He was Eintract Frankfurt manager until sacked in January with them 7th in the league. He led them to the Champions League last season. Fits a very similar profile to OG. Interestingly Eintract Frankfurt's nickname is Eagles!
Interestingly, we spotted that when Ollie joined us from the same club.

Just for the name alone, he has to be our next manager 🤣

I am informed he was named after Dino Zoff.
Next it will be Dino Saur. This needs sorting out tout suite, i'm mildly in favour of Parish but at times he appears to be a reincarnation of Oliver Hardy " Dats an udder fine Mess" Is he being tight fisted again?

I absolutely agree that this needs to be completed asap. I have written before on this thread that I really have no favourite, simply because all of the many possibilites mentioned on this forum have had success and failure. Just like practically every trainer. Furthmore, all names mentioned here are unsubstantiated of course, because, after how would any of us know who could be on the board's list of candidates?
What I find quite unsettling although hardly surprising given the long history of such appointments, is that if true, Bournemouth have, and I quote the BBC here, "a long standing succession plan in place and are close to appointing the new trainer". SO that leaves two possibilities namely a) our Board does not do succession planning = bad, or b) the Board operates behind closed doors = good. I wonder?

That explains the hurdles. 😉

I don’t think it’s completely crazy to suggest it could happen, even if he strongly denies the possibility and is probably being genuine at the time.

Emotions have a huge impact on decisions in this game. Oli is certainly not immune to that, as we’ve seen aplenty.

If he does lead us to lift the UECL, he could well take a look around at this group, that in this scenario he’s now led to three trophies, in a jubilant, celebratory, and victorious mood, with the Europa League entry secured, and suddenly he fancies having a crack at one more comp with the club (one that he has lifted with Eintracht...)
I heard him say in a recent press conference something similar to "if Palace get a new manager" or words to that affect. He then corrected it to "when" I think. Unfortunately I think he'll still leave, but it shows you he may be having 2nd thoughts.

I suspect that's down to English being his second language because in German:
  • Wenn = if
  • Wann = when

Or, we can't be sure who the most attractive option is yet. Anyone under contract at another club at the moment will likely not get into detailed conversations with us until summer, once their club give permission for talks. Even unemployed managers that we fancy will be waiting to see which other clubs offer them something before committing to us.

Sometimes it's possible to line someone up in advance, as we did with Glasner, but often the only way to have a new manager secured this early is to get one who nobody else is likely to want.

Bournemouth managed to get Marco Rose snapped up and announced. He’s hardly the dregs of the barrel, and I’m sure he would have had other suitors to consider. They didn’t let that get in the way.

It may be true if the next manager is coming straight out of another club, but he doesn’t have to be employed right now to be a desirable and suitable candidate.
