Munoz

All clubs owe transfer fees - if the fee is scheduled to be paid over say 5 years, then it is not a problem.
When a club fails to pay another club as per the agreed schedule then a transfer embargo is usually put in place.
Football has quite strong punishment for clubs that fail to pay other clubs as else the pyramid would soon collapse. For example any club in administration must pay all football debts at 100%, without a discount.

If Munoz was to leave (and he is 29) then IMHO Gusto at Chelsea would be an obvious replacement. Much younger and very forward thinking. Unfortunately i suspect Chelsea will want top dollar despite him not being a regular (they bought him for c£30m).
Yes but if they've owed that much for the past four years we'd be unlikely to see much money for quite a while.

Not necessarily - a selling club can request to front load the payment terms, whereas it is in the interests of the buying club to defer as much as possible.

Say Munoz went for £30m on a 5 year contract. So standard payment terms might be £6m per year for 5 years. Palace could request say £15m upfront etc. Barca would probably try and get more paid later in the contract. That's part of the negotiation.

Palace do it too - i believe in our last accounts we owe over £100m in transfer fees

Fair enough, you know more about these things than I do. Still seems likely that the clubs who have been owed for years would get paid before us though.

I think the point of the article was not that Barcelona have defaulted but that they have strong out the payments over many years.

I can't see Palace accepting an offer which would not be paid back until say 5 years. I think Barcelona have struggled recently to buy players because clubs are fed up with their transfer strategy.

The ideal situation would be for Imray, Kphora or Cardines to be good enough. Perhaps Devenny - then we could sell Munoz in a season or two and have options. But not now or even at the end of the season. It'd be like selling Sansom currently. But having Delilah to replace him. Which we've certainly done more than once before. However, if a 45 mil bid came in January, it's a business decision. But it won't and 20 mil or something isn't worth it. I wonder does he have a release clause? No idea.

Talking of Kphora, what/where is he? There's no mention of him in any of OG's pressers, he's not in the U21's & all PLInjuries has listed is"he can't train at all"

I don't know beyond that he's injured. Is it a back injury? Can't remember. I think there may have been a set back too because I think he was due to come back after about a month originally.

Munoz has stated that his dream is to play for Barcelona. If an offer comes in he would want to go and an unhappy player is a liability.
As regards payment much of Barcelona’s financial issues come about because of a massive stadium renovation bringing the capacity up to 105,000 and earnings potential closer to that of Real Madrid. The first public opening for a training session and crowd testing is on Friday with a maximum of 23,000. Following three years of “austerity” with vastly reduced attendance figures and signings at lower levels the Club has discovered that it can compete with the best so I don’t expect it to splash out silly money. However, players like Munoz are keen to join for near guaranteed Champions League football, good weather, in a great city and in his case his native language. If a reasonable offer comes in for a 30 year old then I expect the club will sell.

Now you are showing your age - not many people will know who Judith Chalmers is - or the meaning behind the words ‘Wish You Were Here’. A TV classic 😂

Today’s equivalent is probably Jane McDonald!

I was watching wan bissaka today, great tackler.
Mad industry football,he only got a chance because Wardy got injured, we sold him for over 50m and now we’ve got a wingback miles in front of him.
It’s a funny old game.
Munoz is a machine. Poty and players poty last year.

He speaks catalan?

Did Messi, Lineker, Lewandowski or the Manager Hansi Flick when they first arrived? The saying is “football is an international language” and they all probably speak Spanish and English anyway.
Agreed. Messi speaks Spanish as his native tongue, Lineker taught himself to speak Spanish, The others all speak English. The only people who speak Catalan are the 'nationalists' there, bit like the Welch speaking community. Virtually all the road, train, bus & tram signs are dual signed, even as far down as Alicante.

I remember the Chalmers bird well.
Face like a well battered satchel but perfectly charming to watch on all those ITV funded freebies.
