More covid

Why is this such an issue? In the UK 92.9% of the population were vaccinated. Did 70 people.per thousand represent such a threat?
I can never understand why people worry about others not being vaccinated when they are already "protected"

Funnily enough, in the Pfizer studies they talk about the risk of shredding. This is where a vaccinated person can actually pass on particles of the vaccine to others; the spike protein I think; this includes importantly to the unvaccinated.

Some claim to have been affected and have become ill.

This is something I read about when I looked at parts of the studies years ago. So I might not be 100 percent, but I'm not going to waste my time with chat gpt. This will always give an alternative view.

All I ever wanted was for people to be able to make the decision for themselves. Get it if you want or don't get it. The problem occured when we were not given the choice.

"My body, my choice" until it isint...
This is pretty much what I've always wanted to say from the start and then stop talking about it.

It hasn't worked out that way for me. Lol

You did have the choice! Vaccination for Covid was never mandatory for everyone. Only a small number working in health care were expected to get vaccinated if they were going to be able to continue in their front line jobs. Most did. Those who did not were assigned background roles wherever possible.

The expectation that everyone participated in the efforts to slow the spread via social distancing and mask wearing is quite different.

Except it was mandatory to be able to show proof of vaccination in order to go to concerts or shows or indoor gatherings or on holiday abroad and when the idea was first mooted the scope was far wider.
Yes, there was a choice but it meant not having a social life.

What’s your problem with Chat GPT? It can look at many more sources in an instant than we can do in a year. Not cherry pick those which support your prejudices but all of them. Then distill them and present a reasoned, informed answer. Which either makes sense, or is rejected because of prejudgement. I use it a lot in areas where I have no expertise and find it very helpful indeed. It can write highly effective letters and think of arguments I haven’t.

By the way, before you reach the wrong conclusions I have never used it here.

Additionally where I live you needed a COVID cert to sit down in a coffee shop, go to the cinema, gym, restaurant, pub even some work places needed it.... some choice that was.

No they weren’t. This is an extract from the Parliamentary website “The House of Commons Library”. You can find that site yourself very easily:-

“Mandatory vaccination

Vaccines offered through the national immunisation programme in the UK are not mandatory. Vaccinations are also not currently mandatory in the UK during a pandemic. The Government took steps in 2021 to make vaccination against Covid-19 a pre-requisite for working in health and social care in England, with limited exemptions. These regulations, however, are set to be revoked, subject to parliamentary approval. For further information, see section 8 of the Commons Library briefing on Coronavirus: Adult social care key issues and sources (February 2022).”

The AI view of Chat GPT.

Chat GPT is not fully reliable. It predicts words based on patterns rather than actual facts, meaning it can sound completely confident while giving wrong information. Users on platforms like Quora reach a consensus that it frequently makes errors or invents fake facts. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why Chat GPT Makes Mistakes
    • Hallucinations: It can invent fake quotes, non-existent scientific studies, and wrong dates.
    • Overconfidence: It presents wrong answers with the same strong tone as correct ones.
    • Specialized Topics: It struggles more with niche, legal, medical, or complex technical details.
    • Inconsistency: Asking the exact same question twice can yield different or conflicting answers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

At the time when Covid was at it's worst in the UK, I can understand people who had loved ones in care homes for example, being insistent that the staff were vaccinated.

Hindsight shows that the vaccines did not prevent getting the disease but at the the time there was so much not known that has now come to light.

For example, likely that the virus originated in a research lab in China that was funded by US agencies, Fauci knew all about this yet maintained the animal to human story.

Of course they weren't.

I've already explained to you numerous times in the old thread that it was.

That businesses and organisations decided to require you to be vaccinated, sometimes to meet the requirements of their insurer, doesn’t mean it was mandatory. You had to decide which mattered most. Cruise lines, understandably, when they started to operate again would not let people board without a certificate. They are commercial enterprises. If other passengers expect the security of knowing the others are also vaccinated then they will give that too them. You had no need to cruise, but it’s their ship.

They didn't decide. It was mandated by the government.

You could say it was a million times and you would be wrong every time.

Mandatory, in this context, means imposed by law. Not required by businesses or social conventions that you could avoid by choice.
