More covid

Even the term 'vaccine' was a highly dubious description for these drugs.

Vaccines by definition are meant to stimulate immunity. Yet these drugs did not reliably produce sterilizing immunity that blocked infection or onward transmission in the way many people associated with the classic “vaccine” label.

They caught it over a longer period, when many had been vaccinated, and the impact was reduced. I caught it 3 times. All after I had been vaccinated. Lockdowns had eased, Some social contacts had resumed, I was back playing bowls, in a very organised, controlled way. It was nasty but no worse than the flu.

If nothing had been done who knows what might have happened. I could have died.

The worst case scenario, when taking all the actions we did, was to lose 1% of the population. Which was bad enough. How much worse might it have been if we did nothing? How much would that unknown have cost us? It could have not only overwhelmed the NHS it could have led to society breaking down. No government could possibly have risked that.

John ioannidis was talking about this affecting the majority back in 2020. So were our statistics. Please re read Ted's post.

It was our government that said 3 weeks to flatten the curve. The "vaccines were not introduced until late 2020.

Such a report not being available for consideration when these decisions needed to be made.

No doubt the authors will be asked to present their findings, along with all the others that have been produced, so that a consensus view can be established that will help guide future governments if and when neccessary.

Picking out just one set of opinions, whatever the conclusions are, isn't reliable.

Thousands more started , many by foreign criminal gangs, to claim ,unchecked , hand outs from UK govt, disgraceful lack of oversight

I think my friends point was that this was not the right place for these hearings. It was the many stupid questions she objected to. It would have been better if Congress had appointed a panel of medical experts at least then there would have been a proper dialogue. As a medically qualified person she felt the politicians were embarrassing themselves .

You seriously think that was the intention? Avoiding, as best as possible, such collateral, is why we are having an enquiry.

When facing an existential crisis you must decide priorities on the basis of the immediate threat. Enquiries, over years, to examine and learn lessons are when you reflect and prepare.

Clever asses who think they know everything under the sun might crow about hitting the occasional bullseye when blindfolded but are a total waste of time in a crisis. You need clear heads and consistency.

With respect, your friend's point is completely daft, and I'm being polite.

Most of the decisions Fauci was involved in were ultimately straightforward, and people have a right to some answers:

* Were masks necessary and effective or not?
* Was social distancing necessary or not?
* Were the jabs necessary and effective? Did the state subject undue pressure on individual choice?
* Was ivermectin effective to fight covid or not? Did the state restrict it unreasonably and why?
* Did the virus originate from a lab or from a bat?
* Was Fauci's own Gain of Function research responsible?
* Etc, etc, etc

To suggest that ordinary people, who had to grapple with everyday decisions at the time, are now too stupid to be involved in the debate is a massively condescending insult.

Did your friend have multiple jabs and boosters by any chance?
