No not everywhere in Cornwall is great. Camborne and Redruth being examples of ex mining towns. They do though provide cheaper accomodation and easy access to places that are great. I own rental propertties in Camborne and was with one, very happy, tenant of mine yesterday. He is working nights in a fish processing factory. Not the most glamorous job, but he has an active social life too, loves his own fishing and the nearby coast.
I have always fully accepted the need for those arriving here with a different cultural background to respect and honour ours. I did it myself when I lived abroad for a few years and, to a much lesser degree, when I settled here. If you have ever read my arguments about this you will know I have very strong views on how to achieve this. I have zero tolerance for those who fail to adapt. Those who choose to live here must accept all that exists here.
I also fully recognise that many areas, and the people living within them, face greater daily challenges than I do. I had family living in Southall when the "Indians" arrived. They adapted by moving to Cornwall! They ought not to have needed to, but had the choice, and the determination, to do so and built a very successful business as a consequence.
The historic mining communities have experienced economic and social collapse from which they have barely recovered.
How wonderful that 'socialists' have seen this as an opportune time to pick at the bones of their fallen communities, by buying up property on the cheap only to rent it back to them at a profit.
