Michael Olise

You don't know that they didn't.
They tried hard. They promised him that he’d get the chance to play alongside the likes of Dan Burn, Jordan Henderson and Anthony Gordon. MO is a bit of a gambler though and decided he’d take his chances with France. They have a couple of players on similar levels to the above. Fortunately they get nowhere near the National side !🤪

Looking forward to France v Morocco tonight, mainly for another glimpse of Olise's wonderful play. Has the most assists of anyone so far.

A couple of good articles about him today in both the Times and Mail with some amusing anecdotes about him and his strange behaviour with which we are familiar. One story, new to me, was about the time, when aged just seven, he turned up for a trial with Chelsea wearing a Man U shirt. Made me laugh.

A video popped up while scrolling and it was a coach talking about him, said he was by far the best player in the country at 14, got released by Chelsea for non footballing reasons, he got him in at Reading and told him you wont be joining the academy, you'll be starting from the bottom in one of the development schools. Not sure who the coach was but it's worked out well for him.

Why would we know about it if they had though? You'd assume those sort of conversations go on all the time without fans being made aware.

I'd be very surprised if England didn't make an approach at some stage. But also it seems like Olise was very set on France from quite a young age, and in those cases there isn't much more to discuss!

His first French camp was their U18 squad in 2019 when he was still at Reading, so I don't think England ever really had a sniff.

Olise: "I have always had a connection with the France national team, that is why I play for France. It's been my dream since I was a kid. "
According to an article about him in the Guardian, England tried to get him for U 20's but he was happy in the French set-up. Palace get mentioned once in the piece, in relation to Hayden Mullins!

Had 3 mk4s
One British racing green. Was zippy and now worth a mint. Sold if for 200 quid 😳
I sold mine for £300, wish I had it now, I’d look after it a lot more than I did back then as a 17 year old who had just passed his test

I bet Chelsea's chief accountant threw up his prawn sandwich once he realised what their academy had done.

A challenge for all you older Eagles.

Name a Palace player better than Olise ? Cos i don't think there is one. Certainly from the rave reviews coming back from the World Cup......better than all our previous heroes.
Of course, less goals than Ian Wright or Andy Johnson....but as a playmaker ? unstoppable

translation ?
There's so many reasons now, it'll come down to attitude but there's huge pressure on them at a young age, they even have to achieve certain
Grades at school. Im sure there's so much research and money spent on what makes a professional footballer and most probably have a certain level academically. If you dont achieve a certain grade the big clubs just wont waste time and money on you.
