Mateta

I hope for his sake and ours he makes a good recovery between now and the end of the season. As soon as he is fit enough to pass a medical, out him. I doubt very much he will make the French squad for the world cup.
We made the decision to go with Larsen as our record signing. Stick to it.

Think he needs a good slap , what make its worse is I saw things in him others didn't , and he reward my faith , but he plotted his coffee book with me with wants happened , until he post a sorry for his attitude to us I won't get bitten by him again

Just wondering if they could BOTH be in the team at the same time?
Surely not?

Unless we are two down with ten minutes to go.

And the opponents have decamped to their own penalty box.

And we have players on the pitch who can, and will, cross the ball.

And the opponents are midgets.

And disabled.

In such circumstances, I think your plan is feasible. Otherwise, no.

Tempted to report this post for discrimination. Have you seen Mateta’s miss reel from this season? It’s a bloody insult to say a disabled midget would concede to Mateta.

I can easily see both been used as the sole striker - one perhaps in the Europa league and the other in the Premier League. Whoever is not playing will then provide a decent option off the bench. Strand Larsen looks to be a more intelligent striker and does not get caught offside in the same way Mateta and Nketiah do. Mateta though is more direct and he can bully centre halves and score goals from situations not many other strikers can. This would keep both fresh and give Mateta a chance to push for his selection for the upcoming world cup. Giroud has played the physical striker position for the French team in the past and it looks like their manager thinks Mateta is that person going forward - at least before his injury.

I’ll be peeved if Mateta starts any game between now and the end of the season ahead of JSL. Not that JSL is looking a world beater, but he wants to be here and he puts himself about on the pitch

Agree.

We've invested a lot in JSL and need to make it work. The more time on pitch for him the better.

JPM can get the odd 20 mins here and there, either alongside JSL, or to give him a rest.

Get a good result at home in the Conference, then play him in the return leg in Cyprus, where the small Palace contingent won’t upset him too much if they boo him. He needs his confidence boosted so a ‘stable’ return is what is required for both him and us.

It would be an act of stupidity to boo Mateta (or any other Palace player for that matter) when we need them to perform at their best for Palace to be successful.
There will come a time when we can all let him know what we think of his poor conduct during the transfer window - hopefully when we’re celebrating the lads lifting the conference league trophy! Whether we like it or not we will need him to be back to his best if we have any chance of winning it.
