Mateta

Not necessarily.

Mateta will go if it benefits us. If we don't get deals we like, then he stays.

We need a replacement for Guehi and no doubt other deals are dependent on the Mateta situation.

I'd rather keep Mateta than sign Larsen. He will be playing for the World Cup.
He doesn't want to be here! What part of that is hard to get? The fact you want away means you are not fully committed to Palace.

One factor is a given Mateta going to Milan , Juventus whoever else for a paltry £30m is a joke especially given the figure being banded around Larsen at circa £50m.

Mateta should be at least valued at similar £50m.

Palace need to stop selling players on the cheap when other teams typically push for the optimum price.
Well, they didn't sell Zaha for 70m to Arsenal or Guehi to Newcastle for a similar amount (although I would be interested to know if the player would have agreed to go). The bidders walked away and we kept two important players at the cost of 120m
With Olise, we had no choice given the release clause - a great shame but Parish did up the fee in the contract renewal. Eze hasn't justified his fee to date. Just not sure Hobbs and the board are capable of investing in replacements wisely

He's under contract. He moves if we agree a deal.

He will put in 100% if he stays with the World Cup looming.

Seems pretty clear from Glasner’s presser that a deal has been done with Milan on condition that we sign a replacement. No replacement and he stays. Also pretty clear Glasner is hoping a centre back will be signed. The former is presumably the Strand-Larsen deal while the latter is probably Charlie Cresswell.

I would accept the latter v much

Mateta will be no-where near the World Cup squad if he has the same form going into the end of the season. He'll be sat at home, crying into his lasagna/pasta/pizza with Wilf's laughter playing on repeat in his head

He has some stiff competition for France even if he's on top form.

That's the reality, but he will believe that he has a chance.

Alternatively, win at Forest without him and it implies that he can be let go without a replacement being signed, thereby leaving funds available for when the new manager comes in.

And that's fair enough,- contracts are supposed to work both ways.
Personally I couldn't care less if he wants to be here or not as long as he's worth his place. He's not a Palace fan, he's an employee being paid £2.5 m a year. Suck it up.

Zaha was valued at 75 I think arsenal wanted to pay 50 so instead they paid 72 for pepe wasnt that a good buy , Hobbs brought in some good players to Wolves Gomes , Andre , Agbadou and Cunha , so he has only been here 5 mins so give him a chance

Mateta going can finally put an end to the incessant arm waving he does in home games to get the crowd going (I cannot stand this). We make noise and do our bit, JP, now time to do yours. Either you stay and work hard or just go.
