Mateta

It's all in the follicles.
When he arrived he had that daft hairstyle and wasn't doing well at all. Then he got rid of it and started playing well.

Now he's shaved off his moustache and he's gone wobbly again.
Bring back that tash JP. Bring back the tash.

I would imagine he leaves after the world cup if he does.

He's got his call up to France while playing for palace. To move to a new club where the team isint centered around him at this time is a massive risk.

100%

Cant believe there is any truth him leaving in this window. We wouldn't sanction it, and its too big a risk for him now.

If he scores even a third of the decent chances we give him, he'll be in the squad.

Like Guehi, Mateta doesn't strike me as one who would rock the boat if denied a move.
Ultimately the club has an option for one further year after this season if they choose to exercise it.
If the club and Mateta are as far apart in salary negotiations as reported it would be no surprise if he was sold in the summer so the club at least realise some value.
We're reported to be interested in a Stoke striker as a long term successor to Mateta.

I think you're onto something. His form also went up after he started tucking his shirt in.

Perhaps he needs to try something new. Lipstick? Edgar Davids like sunglasses, wearing his shorts backwards?

He will be near enough impossible to replace but he will be 29 the end of the season, we probably should be looking at a younger replacement at that age anyway, so if we can get a decent fee for him then there's no way we can turn it down. I'll definitely be sad to see him go tho.
Turns 29 on June 28. Some strikers last well after 30. Kane is as good as ever at 32. Lewandowski and Vardy were still excellent players at 35.
But, I agree, that is more a selling point. It is very tough for a team our size to repeatedly lose players for nothing. The thought of Nketiah as our main striker is a depressing one. Hosts of EPL clubs have their main strikers only having one or two goals this season but, at least, their midfielders chip in

It's a man city striker on loan to stoke.

If he goes, Strand Larsen would be a good replacement, I know he's having bad time at the moment but was good last season
he seems a player who has a good footballing brain and has scored some excellent goals in a very poor team (over a few seasons)

Give him the JP chances and penalty taking duties then I believe his return would be on par if not better.

The only doubt in my mind is the good work JP does for the team on and off the ball and how much would we miss if he wasn’t there??

He would be more money than buying the Strand. I'm not surprised that he is off the boil poor quality teams do not provide the service he needs and it must be depressing to run out for Wolves with the world and his dog expecting your team to be beaten yet again two points at this stage is a very poor performance in comparison Eddie the Eagle is a world beater, it is probably all downhill from now.

There aren't many better teams than Palace in the Prem. Unless it's about maximising wages in the last few years of your career. Players could also be tempted to mainland Europe.
Palace are fourth in the Prem and the FA cup holders. There aren't many better teams or managers out there. 🙂

Two defeats and we will be bottom half a very tight division this season.
