With one year on his contract?
It comes down to how much Liverpool want him. They have the money.
We have to pay Chelsea a good chunk of his fee, so I'd keep him rather than let him go cheap.
The downside is he walks next Summer, and we need to splash out for a centre half.

Over say 6 years the numbers may work and if you really want him the fact his contract is in its last year may not be an issue

I suspect Parish is holding out for as much as he can get but as always it has the risk of dragging to the end of the window.
To be fair £35m for someone we paid £18m is great business when we factor in what a fantastic role model and professional Marc has been on and off the field. Record pts total, an fa cup and community shield. He goes with all our blessings I am sure.

Do we? If the 20% is true (as opposed to matching rights option) then out of a £40m sale, Chelsea get £4m at best (20% of our profit of £20m) - so hardly a good chunk.
Many will disagree , but my feeling is , compared to others , such as ,Eze, Wharton, Mateta, Muñoz, Guehi, is the easiest to cope without. Yes he is a really good player and bound to be missed, but when he wasn’t there last season we seemed to cope OK. Obviously he has to be replaced but If Lerma, can cover for him as he has done, then a decent specialist in the position should soon fit in.
This is going to happen sooner or later however much of a ripple Marc’s leaving causes.

Whether for us or England he rarely puts a foot wrong and is still young and entitled to improve
If he has got to go , and it seems ever more likely the club wants him gone , that’s exactly why Liverpool or anyone else should snap Parish’s hand off.
As a punter I’m happy if he does another season, according to Parish, the club are not sold on that idea.
Thats where my head is as well.
I know Marc is significantly more composed than say Lerma, but IMO we'll be ok without him. And with Richards and Lacroix, we've shown that we can bring people into that system and get it to work.

'Good chunk' is a non specific term. However, I'd say 20% is a good chunk. It's one fifth.

From a footballing perspective, losing Marc could but may well not be the end of the world.
Frome everything I've been privy to, it suggests he's a pretty flawless character, somebody other players look up to, and our captain. That may be the real impact.

If we swap MG for Harvey Elliott that's not bad business and he will be a good replacement for injured Dourcore and Kamada, he's young too.
We still need a central back but a lot easier replacing a centre back than Eze or Mateta.
I would prefer Guehi to sign a new deal, but he wants to win the EPL or Champions League rather than the conference league and fight for 6th place this season. Footballers careers are short.
A compromise would be to get him to sign a year extension so he gets guaranteed first team football before the World Cup with us and then we can still sell him for 40 million to Liverpool in the summer when Van Dyke retires. Wont happen obviously.

I have changed my mind a few times on this subject (if people want to check previous posts), but now of the opinion it’s best to keep Marc (World Cup year) and risk him leaving for free next year.

From my perspective. If Eze and Guehi are going to go, I wish they'd hurry up and do it. We need to be able to move on and plan as soon as possible.
Eze has great stats for last season, when he's good, he's incredible, but there were huge parts of the season where he wouldn't turn and run and would only pass backwards. At times he was incredibly frustrating to watch.
Guehi however will be missed especially in the dressing room. But I can see Lacroix stepping up to command in defence and we'll need to strengthen the squad there.
I'm not scared if they go, but I wish they'd hurry up.

I agree, a very frustrating player at times, yet capable of moments of magic. That said, if he were to leave for a sizable fee and a "bigger" club, I suspect he may be required to do more than he does for Palace. The grass etc...
