Marc Guéhi

SP - has no plan or strategy and todays fiasco proved it..!!

We now have a disgruntled Manager and Captain..!!

And that’s good planning is it - get real..!!

Glasner did not have want Guehi to go even if we’d found a replacement- he got his way… few managers do when up against Chairmen. No plan or strategy!!! We won the FA Cup, have been in the premier league for 13 years - that does not happen by accident - how many other small clubs have managed it? The fact that many no longer think of Palace as a small club shows the extent of that success. What club do you think we should be more like?

Glad to hear he's staying, but I can't help but feel this has made irrepairable damage to the relationship between Glasner and Parish/the club.
I doubt that. They won’t always agree because they see things from different perspectives but they are both intelligent and very successful professionals in their respective fields. Glasner made his feelings public but also said he understood the position of Parish.

I suspect they have been working much closer on this than many here seem to imagine.

Why Glasner went public we may never know, but it might be for very different reasons than simply being p1ssed off or issuing veiled threats. It could have been to encourage Marc to stay, or other players to sign. Apparently Glasner and Marc were talking this afternoon, even when he was having a medical. Maybe he asked him not to sign because he knew the proposed replacement wasn’t good enough and Marc cares enough about us to take that seriously.

I hope that Parish will now construct a deal which gives Marc an immediate substantial increase, with a buy out figure set to attract offers but still brings at least £35m to us. It could include the need for any buying club to pay a set signing on bonus as substantial as he might get if he runs down his current contract. If clubs want someone as good as he is, they will pay. The Liverpool fans were wetting themselves with joy this afternoon at how they had mugged us.

I'm too old for this s***.

So we keep Guehi and lose £35 million because we didn't have a replacement player in Parish's office waiting to sign on the dotted line.

It's quite astonishing.

We probably waited till the eleventh hour to squeeze a few more million out of Liverpool and now we are minus all the money.

I'm delighted Guehi is staying but how did we manage to make such a mess of this? On purpose perhaps?

Credit to the chairman for cancelling the deal at least. He could have let Guehi go anyway.

And this you know how, as a team that won 3-0 away, yesterday, ffs
That was all OG as was winning the FA Cup and Charity Shield..!!

That was despite SP not because of..!!

Yes SP saved us from going out of existence - but that was 15 years ago, and we will be eternally grateful - but he can’t keep drinking from that well.

Then was then, now is now and this window has been an utter shambles - culminating in todays fiasco..!!

The hole is that this morning Parish thought he had £35m coming in, and now he's going to have a lot less than £35m (possibly nothing) coming in.

That asset still needs replacing in the next 12 months.

Less incomings and same outgoings = hole.
True, although it’s £28 mil because Chelsea would’ve got their £7mil sell on clause payment.

That is the difference between Palace and any other club that I can think of. Steve Parish is a lifelong Palace fan, as much as anyone who sits in the Holmesdale or the Arthur. He rescued Palace in 2010. Under his leadership Palace have been in the EPL for 12 years and have now won two major trophies and are now playing in Europe. Thankfully as a businessman he privately earned enough money and had enough nous to take over Palace. He is not the sort of 'money man' to wave goodbye to Glasner; or indeed Guehi, without proper replacements. Put another way he does not want to torpedo Palace on the field, nor indeed lead the club into administration.
A good day for Palace. COYP!

Yes it is..!!

We have our Manager - the Manager that has just taken us to the echelons we only ever dreamed of until last season - calling out broken promises, lack of backing in this window and publicly going head to head with SP..!!

Then todays fiasco..!!

Frankly embarrassing..!!
Well, now you can rinse out your incontinence pants and pack them away..!!

Until January at least..!!

😎

Or we could spin this thus…how fantastic that our little club told the multiple European Champions “Sorry…deal’s off” at the very last minute.
Feels like we’ve come a long way.
Maybe transfer deadline day is just a game of poker.
Maybe SP is Del Boy and after declaring 2 pair to Liverpool’s Boycie he’s just revealed a pair of aces and another pair of aces.

Yes but he no tangible plan in place to spend that money or a replacement in place did he, other than Brighton’s 5th choice centre back.!!

Hence today..!!

That’s the “hole” point..!!

Mate SP needs to go to Guehi and firstly apologise - then say here’s a 1 year extension on £150K a week, we’ll include a release clause of £50M..!!

Bottom line is that SP now needs to build bridges and get Guehi and Glasner back onside quickly..!!

Because at the moment I suspect the atmosphere is very frosty and fractious indeed..!!
Why would SP apologise to Guehi? He’s under contract, we’re under no obligation to sell him unless the terms work for us and ultimately they didn’t.

It's a win for the fans. I'm very happy with the outcome.

Maybe this was always the plan. Make it conditional on getting replacements, but then can’t get deals done… Guehi stays, but feels as if Palace tried. Perhaps he’ll leave in January, with Palace trying to get others interested to maximise the price from other European clubs that might need reinforcements as they enter later stages of the Champions League. In the meantime we look at replacements… but still leave it to the last minute!

If Guehi plays in the conference league for us, then what I understand that cup ties him for any UEFA competition.

Correct me if I am wrong!

If Liverpool had made us an offer we couldn't refuse - which by the sounds of things is only the difference of about £10m - they'd have had him weeks ago. They can't really complain.

Glasner had an agreement with Parish that Guehi can't go if a replacement isn't sought. Guehi hasn't left. Glasner can't really complain.

Parish now needs to work out how to fix a £35m hole in the budget over the next 12 months. He's the only one that's still got an immediate problem.
You say that but do we really have a financial black hole? Last season we took in money from Olise, Anderson and Johnstone. Didn't spend in excess of that. This season Eze plus money from new TV deal and league position. Spend on Pino, Canvot and hopefully Uche probably not much more than £65m.

Should £35m represent that much of a challenge?
