Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace match thread

My overriding feeling about this game is that the ref is a c***. Utd are full of c****. VAR is a c*** of a thing. Kamada is a bit of a c***. But we played better than we have for awhile. Ollie is still a turn coat c***. But we wont get relegated and we still have a chance to stick one up those UEFA c**** so may not end up being a total c*** of a season.
Language Timothy! 😉

Is that you Willo 😍.

I think it was a foul and a red card but i do think it was outside the box.
Clearly Cunha was held back outside the box and the referee and VAR seeing that Lacroix had a hand on the attackers shoulder when he tumbled inside the area deemed that a penalty should be awarded. Given this decision was made, it is understandable that a 'Red' was issued.
People of course have different viewpoints.

Conceivably we could of won the FA Cup last year with this team, the feasibility of the result is impossible to determine.
Are you suggesting that the present team would have beaten Fulham 3-0 away, thrashed Villa in the semis and overcome Man C in the final?
A Palace team with only 3 victories in heading towards 20 games?

Your posts suggest that you pride yourself in being contrarian, but I'll have some of what you're on.

The offence started outside the box and so it is free kick.
Was it a red card as well - maybe.
The Ref is corrupt as is VAR.
The ref is from Manchester and he gave that after much thought ,while he worked out how harsh he could be, depending on his decision.
Seriously considering my season ticket now, because football is just s*** now.
The Burnley decisions yesterday ate just another example.
Cheats on and off and off the field of play.

not a pen nor a red card, Mitchell was level on the inside and Cunha wasn't that central, incident outside box, very light touch and then a bit of Acapulco. At least we looked more like our old selves, the Conference has given us some purpose. They looked half asleep first 30 min, shame we couldn't get a second then, opened them up a few times bur delayed the final pass.

Soft pen, you've passed the line still got his hand on you, why not. If he'd taken his hand off it would have been a free kick on the edge.

Its Man U, I'm not generally a conspiracy theorist but I in my mind have to 2 FA cup finals, Thomas not fowled but chopped down in front of everyone, Zaha, last man but just a free kick.

You can't beat Man U with 10 men. Worked for us in the Wolves game.

TBF Charity Shield, Hendo had his foot over the line, Man City must have pissed off the Illuminati or whoever has the most money.

Overall I thought they played well, most likely to win but for the sending off, I feel they are getting back to showing their best.

Also good to see JSL looking pissed for being taken off. I like that.

I am reminded of the disallowed penalty in the home match against Liverpool last season (Oct24). Guehi charging into the box to get to a cross at the unguarded back post is pulled back by VVD. No penalty given and the under investigation Mr Coote on VAR not getting involved. It was criticised by pundits, journalists and ex-refs including Dermot Gallagher. Howard Webb jumped in backing the referee claiming Mark would not have reached the ball. However, two days later he changed his story saying that the foul was not long enough!!! We don’t stand a chance against the big boys!

PS I can’t ever remember Webb or Riley apologising for mistakes made against us.

The initial foul was but apparently because he was still contacting him inside the box the fouling continued there. So the worst possible outcome. Penalty and red card.

Another referee could have decided differently though and given a free kick outside the box and yellows to both players, ours for the foul but not a red as it could be argued there was cover, and their’s for diving.

That used to be a common occurrence. But the rule was changed and the threshold for DOGSO was increased. There has been many precedents of similar circumstances that should have meant this was a yellow card. It is unfathomable that it went to a red card.

I think bias rather than lack of consistency. I tend to give refs the benefit of the doubt but Kavanagh gave them free kicks for every challenge but we had players flattened and he waved play on. McGuire assaulted Guessand and nothing was given. The man shouldn’t be allowed to referee under 18s never mind a PL game involving a team from his home town!
And yet he awarded more fouls against Utd than against us. How has that happened if what you say is true? I'm NOT defending him for the awful penalty and rd card decisions BTW.

When the pen was given I told the Mrs to put her coat on we are going down the pub . I'm not going to let these cheating bastards spoil my day
We can argue till next Christmas on the laws and referees /VAR interpretation of them but I'm sure everyone will agree that interpretation is different for the likes of Palace ,Fulham and Brentford than it is for Man Utd , City and Liverpool . These sort of decisions NEVER happen when we play at say Brighton because the powers to be dont give a f*** who wins
We can moan and complain but nothing will change . The games f***ed ,The 'big' clubs need to be at the top , the FA need the big clubs at the top and UEFA need the big clubs at the top

TV revenue rules .

I'm sure we will all be scouring up coming matches to see how many penalties we get when a defender has his hand on one of our attackers shoulder . The answer is of course none ,the game is f***ed and at the top level is almost unwatchable

We didn’t capitalize on the 1 goal

Kamada I need to ask - what on earth is he doing - I’m not having a go but he’s on the pitch for 70 mins - Why ???

I’ll say again. He was not held back, there was no shirt pull, all max did was put his hand on his shoulder, released before the area, cunha dived, cheated as did var. watch it closely, you’ll see

Perfectly possible if the ref only penalised 50% of their 26 fouls and penalised us for all of ours. Lies, damned lies and statistics!
