Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace match thread

I'm just grateful he didn't find an excuse send Richards off too.

I thought we played better than we have for a while.
Munoz looked more like his old self.
Heroic defending by Richards, particularly with inexperienced defenders either side of him.
Is it just me or does Guessand seem reluctant to chase after balls that are not played to his feet?

Glasner hinted they need to work on that side of his game he is good at some parts of game only.

It’s a foul and penalty, Cunha would have got to the ball as Henderson was pretty much on his line and the pass was nicely weighted through.

It’s piss poor defending by Lacroix, he is far too tight to Cunha and gets rolled and pulls him back.
What, a foul outside the box and then a foul inside the box, so let's settle for a penalty. Bollox.
You need a visit to specsavers Painter.

A dodgy penalty and a dodgy red card cost us.

We played well against an inform United. That is the best take away from this game.

A great example of VAR ruining a game when it need not have got involved.
VAR awarded the red even though the pen was surely enough punishment for the foul.
It meant that Lecoix was not on the pitch to deal with the cross for their 2nd goal.
We kept going to the end. Moan Utd were very poor,

Just robbed today. Can’t blame the team. That result was decided well in advance by the people running the show

Absolute bullsh*t. Ref and var bias robbed the game of any excitement.

If he genuinely thinks it's a foul then it has to be a freekick outside the area. You only need to take one look at the replay to see by the time Cunha is in the area Lacroix has removed his hand and it's resting on his shoulder which apparently makes Cunha's legs collapse.

It was either freekick outside the area or a yellow card to Cunha for diving. Between the Ref and VAR they manage to turn it into a penalty and a red card. Makes you sick.

Almost as if half of the officials are from Manchester area, oh wait!

Robbed of a competitive game, Ref and VAR killing football.

I must be in the minority as I think we brought it on ourselves. After going one up against a very average United side we kept passing it backwards when in good attacking positions instead of looking to score a second goal.We had more of a go with ten men than we did while we were on top early in the game.I’ve had it now with OG as he plays too defensively unlike when he first arrived and we played more on the front foot. Also Johnson is stealing a living!!

Taking the obvious big club bias out of the equation, I think we may have got something out of that game.
So we do have to be positive and we seem to have turned a corner. After the midweek game I said I felt it was small steps to improvement and I feel the same again today.

According to IFAB Law 13, a free kick is awarded at the specific spot where the foul occurred. If the holding offense begins outside the penalty area, it is a direct free kick, regardless of where the player falls.
Laws of the Game | IFABLaws of the Game | IFAB +2

So there you have it. Lecroix started holding the player back OUTSIDE the area, so NO PENALTY.
CHEATS comes to mind.

See Dawnson on Sky sports saying its a foul, penalty and red card 😆

They just played it 10 times.... Just watch Lacoix he doesn't actually do anything. Hes just playing football as far as I can see. Cunha takes a dive and I thought thats what VAR was made for. To correct clear and obvious mistakes for giving the penalty. Because that us NEVER a penalty or a foul in a game of premier League football. Lucky we have VAR to show the ref how easily Cunhas gone down to reverse his decision?

Oh wait no.... Were using VAR to decide if its a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity.

What the actual f*** is happening. Im a big fan of VAR as I thought it would stop the big sides getting dubious decisions as everyone would be able to kick up a fuss if their decision isn't just made from the real life scenario. But no they're no watching it over and over and still giving dubious decisions.

Its beyond ridiculous it really really is.

Well done to the players though. We wernt amazing but looked good 1st half and still looked good when attacking with 10 men (From what I saw as I gave up watching

Both Spurs and Forest lost and we are a lot more positive and confident than in December and January. Look forward to the last 10 PL games of the season together with our European adventure. Well done, lads - made me a proud Eagle again.

Foul yes, penalty no, contact started outside the penalty area, you’ve been around long enough to know what happens at old Trafford, if it had been strand Larsen up the other end, that’s given as a free kick on the edge of the area

A predictable defeat.
We performed well in the first half but once we were reduced to 10 men and they equalised from the penalty spot, the writing was well and truly on the wall.
Johnson was once again very disappointing it appeared that Glasner was not best pleased with Pino on a couple of occasions.
