Man City found guilty

Sky Sports saying that if expulsion is recommended as the penalty that there may not be enough votes amongst the PL clubs to kick them out. It needs a 15/19 vote and several top execs don't want to lose City for financial reasons. I have a feeling it is a secret vote as well, though could be wrong, which would make it more likely as a scenario. What with 'man of the people' Burnham sticking up for the UAE, this could get very ugly

it could trigger the re-emergence of some form of European Super League -

This is the beginning of the end of the football industry.
It has to be dismantled.
Too much wealth, power and corruption.
City being confident they've done nothing wrong translates to them having dirt on everyone else.
And don't be too sure Palace are squeaky clean.
Tell me a way out of this that offers up a product that is free and uncompromised?
Oh well....it's been fun!
I agree with all of this except the last bit. It hasn't been fun. Or at least, fun has been had despite the current arrangement rather than because of it.

I'd be happy enough for this particular, ugly, over-commercialised, virtue-signalling whilst amoral, money-obsessed closed shop to crash and burn.

A league where clubs have far less money? Where there is less to attract foreign-state sportswashing projects? Where there isn't the budget for youth team squads to be international rather than local? Where players put down roots? Where the guy taking the corner doesn't get paid more in a week than the guy watching him makes in five years?

All suits me.

Don't forget, these guilty charges and the penalty being deliberated against M.C are only up to the year/season 2018!

The Premier League have requested records and docs up to year 2025 i believe and City are refusing to provide those details for the years since 2018 - true to form. So the overall investigation will go on for years and I wonder what shape the club will be in at the end??
Is that so?

Normally one might presume that a guilty party at least stopped breaking the rules once they realised they were under investigation but, as you say, with City's astounding arrogance and belligerence perhaps they just kept right on!

Personally, I had already concluded that all City's trophies should be expunged, up to and including their most recent because even if the more recent teams were put together within their 'lawful' budget, that same budget was greater than it would have been had they not had earlier success from cheating. Would City have been able to afford or attract players like Haaland if not for the status and income derived from previous, unfair, trophy wins? I doubt it very much.

In a way it would be neater if they have been cheating up to 2025 as all of their achievements can be made null and void, rather than some eternal debate about where to draw the line.

To my mind they should also compensate all clubs for the overinflated purchase prices. We probably would not have had to to pay the likes of 49m for JSL if not for Mancheater City forcing all the prices up due to their dodgy accounting practices.

A team that got relegated by a couple of points and lost to Man City?
The only relegation this could be said to be affected is in 2010/11 when Wolves survived on 40 points after beating City once. Blackpool, on 39, failed to obtain a point against City
Of course, this season City players may just give up and lose plenty of games. Unfortunately, we have already played them once.

Actually there is conflicting info on this period since 2018, where charges were definitely filed for non-cooperation up until 2023.

I read elsewhere that M City are considered compliant since 2018 with PL's more stringent auditing and accounting standards. But, I really dont know and actually such a lot is being written with the PL not saying too much and perhaps only that FootyLeaks hacker knowing the fullest picture ?!

I thought it was the indepedent commisson that decides punishment
It is BUT my understanding (and I may be wrong) is that whilst they can recommend points deductions and even relegation and these be implemented, when it comes to actual expulsion (in other words not having another league to go to automatically) then this has to have the agreement of 75% of the PL clubs to proceed.

You are right. Presumably they might decide to ignore the expulsion and apply a points deduction instead - as they have done for Forest, Everton etc. _ and a transfer ban. That would be an extraordinary turn of events and not sure they would ovrcome the wrath of their supporters. But they did vote for financial rules that hurt a lot of clubs so who knows
