Makerfield by election

The likely result of this puts a different spin on democracy. In the General Election of 2024 Labour laid out their manifesto and with Keir Starmer as their leader were voted in to government by 9,700,000 people

Now it seems that Andy Burnham will be taking over as PM with a promise to change things without reference to the previous mandate on the back of the 25,000 North Westerners who voted for him.

I don't like Starmer and wish him gone but not like this as it's plain wrong
If there is going to be changes to the policies in the manifesto in a proper world there would be a GE, Starmer has ignored much of the manifesto and pushed new policies that weren't in it, basically it's a meaningless document these days

Changing the leader is irrelevant.

Changing the mandate is.

Winners ,something the right haven't had for awhile, Labour will be the biggest party after the next election as the right splinter into little fascist factions,Restore, reform regurgitate, reboot ( Laxley- Lemon) and quite frankly repulsive. On polling day as they enter the polling station good old British common sense will prevail. Burnham like Bevan has that x factor.

He might be in your w*** bank but he's not in the majority of people. You think this is victory already, but there are plenty of MPs unhappy with this, expect rebellion, fighting and undermining. That's modern politics.

You should never meet your heroes, he won't be able to do what he's told everyone once ideology meets reality. Great example is Midnight Oil lead singer Peter Garrett, long term environmentalist and anti capitalist, sang songs complaining about mining uranium on aboriginal land, goes into politics and becomes a minister in the environment in government, then ends up signing off expansion of uranium mines.
