Makerfield by election

Tactical voting by Reform and Restore voters to get rid of Starmer won the day , Labour now set up nicely for a bitter leadership race .
Question time is going to be a jolly spectacle to watch .

Watching Sky News the Newscaster to Reform's Tice; "your Candidate continually said Unacceptable things and had to apologise throughout the campaign, was he the right
person to stand"
A very perplaxed Tice: " He is a good Plumber"
What a good answer if the Palace of Westminster gets a leak he was going to be the right man for the job in all other respects he is a King Canute. Wonderful encapsulation of the Reform spirit.

I wouldn't read the result that way.

Labour won, quite why the locals want an MP who has no interest in being their local MP I couldn't say but the voters have spoken and will have to live with their choice.

Correction
WE (the UK) will have to live with their choice….🤬

Andy Burnham is a local legend engendering a tribal loyalty not something southerners readily understand, He could have stood for the Greens or the Lib Dems and won at a canter. I would like my local M.P to be Prime Minister think of the clout the P.M. has far more than a bog standard M.P. Just to illustrate further we have an upcoming Mayoral election in Manchester IF Burnham warmly endorses the new Labour candidate he will win handsomely.

This was a hand picked seat for Burnham to win. It's no surprise.

What is significant is that Restore took just over 3k votes. In a tighter race, that would mean the difference between Reform winning a seat and losing to Labour.

Perhaps it's time for Restore supporters to wake up and realise that they are in serious danger of giving us another Labour government. Now that would be the dumbest bit of self harm ever.

Having an MP who is PM may be attractive for voters but not for me. I am voting for a guy who should be focused on our constituency but each to his own.

as for Manchester Mayor I don't doubt Labour will win it, it's the same as London a Labour stronghold.

If it looks like a duck

But doesn't walk or quack like a duck

It's a dead duck

Starmer, you betrayed your party and the country. You should be hanged for treason

(Along with Boris Johnson)

How did he betray you exactly?

He's met or partially met all the manifesto pledges except teacher recruitment and the tax on NI
