And he’s a total capitalist. Ironic really !You are too generous.
He is part of the problem. His heart only bleeds for select groups.

But pesky per capita is one of the metrics demonstrates how fooked the economy is.Gentle reminder, per capita, because we just know you'll produce a raw number

I was going to say that I think you're right, but some on here would take that too literally !Today could be the day a single constituency elects a new prime minister…. With 14 candidates I can’t see Burnham losing this and then he will be PM by the autumn.

Well yes, there would still be the likes of you, Wisbelch and beak to blame. You could get rid of every single immigrant in this country and people like you would still find someone else to blame for your problems.

What makes you think that? I take personal responsibility for my actions. Certainly I am at fault now and again, aren't we all?Slow hand clap for proving my point. Nothing is ever your fault. No sense of personal responsibility whatsoever.
Many a slip twixt cup and lip the Labour party often does things than outsiders find unfathomable, It really would not be a surprise if they kept Burnham back as a threat whilst they pulled Starmer's strings to extricate their whims. It is a race with many hurdles.Today could be the day a single constituency elects a new prime minister…. Morally and ethically, they should call an election. But they obviously would not as they'd be wiped out at the polls. It's going to take a long time for Labour to get back into power after this shower get kicked out. They will have twenty years to think about what went wrong.Personally, I think they're all a shower of s***.
I wouldn't vote Labour. Equally, I wouldn't vote Reform or Restore. The Conservatives are a busted flush. The Liberal Democrats are basically a less mental version of the Greens.
And the Green Party - Thank God I'm colourblind. It saves me from having to see Green.
But this isn't really about party politics. It's about whether mandates still mean anything. When Tony Blair handed over to Gordon Brown, or when the Conservatives went through Boris, Truss and Sunak at least those people were MPs. They were on the ballot paper at a general election. Voters knew they existed and knew there was a possibility they might end up in Number 10.
Andy Burnham wasn't. He wasn't standing to be an MP.
And if you want to be an MP, resign as Mayor and stand for Parliament. Don't keep one elected job in your back pocket while auditioning for another.
The same principle would apply if the Tories fluked an election win and then Boris Johnson suddenly returned from political exile and was installed as Prime Minister. It would apply if Nigel Farage had been parachuted into Downing Street without facing the electorate. Love him or hate him, the voters of Clacton at least had the chance to vote for him or reject him.
What doesn't sit right is the idea that the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom could emerge from a process where the public never had the opportunity to vote for them as an MP at the last General Election.
Legally, that's perfectly possible. But legality and legitimacy aren't the same thing.
If Andy Burnham wants to be Prime Minister, become an MP, win the leadership, then call a General Election and ask the country for a mandate. Somehow I suspect only the first two will seem a good idea to him.
Throughout history Governments "soldier on" and do not call a General Election for no good reason, is it 'cos Wes is unhappy? 😉Morally and ethically, they should call an election. I think it disgusting that he doesn't want to finish his term as Mayor* but will only quit if he can become a MP. And if he becomes an MP he wants to leave Markerfield for Westminster and don't spare the horses.Personally, I think they're all a shower of s***.

Why?.What are the moral.or ethical reasons they should do this?.Morally and ethically, they should call an election. But they obviously would not as they'd be wiped out at the polls. Repealed a couple of years agoWhy?.What are the moral.or ethical reasons they should do this?.
Are they somehow different from when we had a parade of Tory PM's foisted on us by the red trousers brigade who dominate the Tory rank and file?
We have fixed term parliaments and no party will have any interest in losing power.
Not saying it's right btw just saying it is.

It's not party politics I'm talking about. Would apply to Tories or anyone else that has lost control of their own party and the faith of the electorate. There's no point in having checks and balances if they're never used. This is quite literally the least popular government ever, deservedly so.Why?.What are the moral.or ethical reasons they should do this?.

Funnily enough, Labour didn't want local elections because they cost too much. Yet caused this election to suit themselves.I think it disgusting that he doesn't want to finish his term as Mayor* but will only quit if he can become a MP. And if he becomes an MP he wants to leave Markerfield for Westminster and don't spare the horses.
Vote Burnham he doesn't live in the area and wants to rush off to Westminster. What a fine MP he will be for his constituents.
*Apparently the last election cost around 7m perhaps Mr Burnham might like to contribute. Meanwhile how much will the by election cost because some Labour MP fell on his sword.
Never mind it's only taxpayers money.

Yes, the last Tory government was Dec 19 to July 24. I doubt any government would go sooner than obliged to, unless they had just had enough! Why?.What are the moral.or ethical reasons they should do this?.

Lemming parliaments jump early but no other species would. 😉Yes, the last Tory government was Dec 19 to July 24. I doubt any government would go sooner than obliged to, unless they had just had enough!
