It has been stated that the front of the Whitehorse will be chopped off. It is to centre the pitch against the new stand, as I said earlier.

It is to realign the pitch relative to the new main stand. More seating is being fitted where the TV studio is to compensate for the loss of seats in the Whitehorse.

I don't know how many more times I can say it.

The plans said the pitch will be extended so the ground would meet UEFA standards and be able to host games. I think it was part of the sales pitch for the new stand to get it approved. Liverpool and Chelsea cannot host potential Euro 2028 matches as the pitches are not big enough. Who knows if Palace will extend the Selhurst pitch or not.
 
I said it years ago when the first artist impression came out for a proposed new main stand... it's far too lavish, far too ambitious, far too expensive and as a result may never be built. So here we are all these years later and our main stand is still a wooden cladded dinosaur. Besides all that the proposed version is a total mismatch with the other three stands and Selhurst will continue to look an incoherent mess. I've always advocated redeveloping it to match the Holmesdale stand which would look fantastic and come in at half the price. We'd probably have had bums on seats by last season if a sensible scheme was put forward.
 
And had we done that I'm certain types like yourself would be quick to slag off "half arsed Palace"

In what world is that a good idea?

The stand houses the whole infrastructure of the club. It has to be big, and it has to be impressive.
How do you think we can even stay on the coat tails of the bigger clubs otherwise?

As the actress said to the bishop. I dunno, just some bland cantilevered jobby at much lower cost, a couple of tiers, fill in the corners between the Holmesdale and Whitehorse, get the capacity above 30k, just get rid of that f*cking cow shed, then down the line either try and build high at the Whitehorse, or get some arrangement with Sainsbury's to extend the family enclosure which gives a terrible view or upgrade the Arthur, but please destroy that heap of corrugated iron and timber which is barely fit to harbour light aircraft let alone 21st century football fans.

Sorry, I heard the bit at the beginning and the bit at the end but could you repeat the bit in the middle as I missed it.

Cutting the bottom rows of the Whitehorse creates another problem. At the moment it is just about possible to see the goal line from the back seats so many fans in the back row have to stand. Of course this was not a problem under Roy Hodgson as we hardly ever scored goals there. If the pitch is moved towards the new seating line it will only be possible to see the top half of the goal, in other words a restricted view meaning heavily reduced seat prices. The only option is to knock down the stand including the walkway underneath, aka the infamous “black hole of Calcutta”, rebuilding the lot.

It is probable that SP and the design team have never sat there during a match so don’t know about this problem. They will not enjoy the added expense of rebuilding either.

It’s a shame Woody didn’t come earlier. He was involved in building the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey which will host the World Cup next year. He may yet have some input into current plans.

Construction in US is nothing like UK.

I am hoping the positives to Woody is connections but I still see the issue being SP look how long it took to do academy it was because of Tex that suddenly happened.

From what I've heard and dont shoot the sheriff or the messenger:
The pitch need to be relayed regardless of the main stand development
The area under the Holmesdale is being being watertight and to be used as an underground carpark
At some point the disabled area will be moved from the Main Stand to the front of the Whitehorse Stand
The main stand redevelopment project has been delayed for a season

It would be good if the club could provide a new update, the last one was December 2024 Crystal Palace Main Stand redevelopment - Crystal Palace F.C.

All of the above may have changed again of course and this info may be old.
