Main Stand redevelopment thread

I suppose that depends on the current value of the land versus the revenue, jobs and exposure that a 50k stadium would bring to the local area, especially if it was part of a bigger complex of shops, hotel, cinema, parking etc.

We can dream...
This is where the club is let down by the council. What the f*** else would bring anyone at all to our area? Only business remaining would be Tasty Jerk and 14 "Turkish" Barbers and nail bars. Maybe Sainsbury's and the Tesco's. But even then I have my doubts. No pubs for sure.

That all makes a lot of sense.

It is surprising that there is not a piece of available redundant land in the whole of our catchment area that could be used. Sure, land is expensive in the South East but not so much to be prohibitive surely.
I guess football isn't a priority for our local councils. They must have land somewhere they could let go of cheaply to avoid maintenance costs and then help the development process along.

As it is, I expect our current stadium to develop in line with the club's success. If we fill the 35k and keep on an upward trajectory, then there will be pressure to add another 5k to the capacity.
I reckon Beddington Park area/Purley could have an area that's easier to build - but I'd prefer we stay in South Norwood

Is this thread still going?
It will be until it's built. Then someone will start another about the Whitehorse.

It might be me.

He can f**k off, don't want him anywhere near the opening of our new stand.

Roy, Sir Steve and Steve Parish can open it.
If you mean any politician then fair enough. If you mean Farage individually, you might change your mind as Islam takes control of London, England and Britain more and more.

Don't want to be a downer heee but nowhere in the article does it say the stand is being demolished, only the will be some demolision.
It would be madness to knock down the stand mid season and the lose revenue, surely season ticket holders would have been informed by now. Knocking it down will happen in May

This is scheduled for New Year's Day. Just before kick off. Season ticket holders get told at Christmas 🎄

I've heard Sainsbury's is being replaced by a mosque, I always wanted to see the back of it but now I'm not so sure, no more hot dogs and the burgers will all be halal.
