Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Palace have the last laugh?

U21s beat Liverpool this afternoon at Kirby after a penalty shoot-out in a tough PL play-off.

3-3 at FT, then our keeper Lee saved 2 scouse penalties 1-3.

Good win against a team that finished higher in the standings. Next up could be Man Utd in the quarters

I think the question is, will the 100 million we spent on Johnson, Strand Larsen and Pino keep us in the Premier League next season. I think the answer is a resounding no.
That does not include the likely sale of Mateta, the loss of Kamada and other possible departures of quality players.
We have to find the money to improve the squad from somewhere, especially up front, where we are very wasteful.
I don't have much faith in our new director of football. He was mugged into buying Johnson and went back to his failing former club to buy a bang average forward for big money. Pino can't shoot to save his life and his free kicks are usually awful.

This trajectory cannot continue.

Agree with this. What worries me as well is Wolves are relegated with a squad not fit for the prem. our new DOF oversaw that squad. The signings made by him are yet to convince me he is the right man and don’t forget the McNeil debacle on his watch.

Strange the fuss made in certain quarters about the Palace goal. Some teams are schooled in diving and feigning injury so the referee must surely take this into consideration, and if the ref was to stop the game for every incident then there wouldn't be much of a game in the first place.
The mickeys are just whinging entitled slags who can't wait to play holier than thou (despite having a rap sheet longer than War and Peace)

A predictable defeat. Liverpool.are a cut-above and they were playing at Anfield.
Well they're not, are they? They've been complete pony this season and owe the Palace boy in their nets a bottle of something for not losing by several yesterday. We've seen that game far too often this season where the final score is beyond any comprehension

When was the last time an away team created so many chances at Anfield?
Isak`s goal involved a couple of fortunate rebounds before sitting up for him but did he really mean to hit it into the ground? Debateable.
Johnson I think is trying to hard, he needs something to happen for him maybe scoring with a heavily deflected shot. He scored 18 for Tottenham last season and there are several Tottenham vlogs questioning why they sold him, so maybe too many are writing him off early?
Isak shined it 2 miss kicks and it goes in thats what we haven't had all season , luck , we miss kick goes to one of there players , Munoz goal ref friend said there was nothing wrong with it , if Woodie had been carried off different , he jarred his knee in the ground nothing more ,

No they are not , difference between the 2 is luck nothing more , for once Thank god for VAR for not backing the ref regarding pen then it would be the good olds of them getting pens when its clear its not , we was the better team simple , don't praise a team that got lucky

The BBC posted the article below just after their relegation was confirmed.

The bit that concerned me was the first 3 paragraphs of the section headed ā€œTransfer Regretsā€.

Matt Hobbs was in charge at Wolves when the events described in the first 3 paragraphs happened, and they seem to be happening here too now.

Disagree, you could see Wharton and especially Kamada were knackered after 75 mins. Hughes, Lerma or Devenny should have come on. Glasner didn’t help us today. Wrong or not enough substitutes used. Could have got a result even if just a draw if we had taken chances. Also looked lacklustre today at times which didn’t help. Oh well, onto semi final but I still will feel happy after results today when we have picked up a few more points šŸ™‚
Wharton just back from injury so played the fill game? Really?

These 2 will clearly be the 2 in CM on Thursday so taking both off after 70 odd minutes seemed pretty obvious.

OG is often quite poor with his subs. Uche is not great but surely having him on the bench would give us an extra attacking option, especially when Johnson starts, as we know he will be poor and will be taken off.

I suspect his dad will sort that - still very bitter regarding his departure from Palace under Alan Smith
