Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace League Cup match thread

Well played Palace. Perfect example of the expression men against boys in action. It would be a rare performance to play a load of kids against a decent side like Palace and get away with it.

Fully deserved win, who do we fancy in the draw, even though we know we will get Arsenal away?

I don't think we really learned anything from that game.

I'm glad that Canvot came through with no obvious mistakes. That's good for his progression.

A wonderful result. You can, as the saying goes, only beat what is put in front of you and the team played very well tonight.

Happy for Pino, and great to see Sarr get his scoring boots back on. I thought Devenney made a difference when he came on. The only gripe I have is I think we missed a chance to get some of the fringe players (Esse, Uche) some minutes. But getting back to winning ways was much more important.

A lifelong LFC fan just sent this to me which was the icing on the cake. COYP! ❤️💙❤️💙

Interesting to see how much Liverpool have rotated but they shouldn't be underestimated as they'll probably be hungrier than their current first team. Hopefully we can get an early goal. Really feel like Pino could do with a goal to boost his confidence, he was very unlucky to not score in the first few games and since has gone off the boil a little. I hope I'm wrong but I could see this going to penalties again.

Glad I was wrong about the result. But glad the Pino part came true. You can see why Glasner likes him because even when things aren't coming off for him he's still working tirelessly. Hopefully he'll push on again now.

Hopefully the Nketiah sub was planned and not an injury.

Great result, some nice goals, onto Saturday.

OK, it was against Liverpool reserves but we truly deserved it. Benitez was a spectator. We harassed them throughout and all 3 goals were well taken, especially the second - a great team effort.

I don't think Sosa is going to usurp Mitchell but he had a fair game.

On to our bogey team, Brentford, on Saturday. We will need to be at our best but the win tonight will have boosted our morale plenty.

I'm delighted we've gone through, but the win for me is slightly tainted by the weak team Liverpool played.
You can only play what's in front of you and we put in a professional performance, but there's a feeling Liverpool almost threw the game with their team selection.

What I liked, when we celebrate,we genuinely celebrate as a team....like when a teenager on a Sunday team . There doesn't seem to be any prima Donna's, that to me is the secret....and it takes a good manager /background team to make players feel that way!
This team can do a lot!

Three decent names for us in the hat: Brentford, Fulham and Cardiff (and we owe them one in this competition)

So nearly 50/50 chance of the winner of this having a very decent chance of making the semi-finals

Can understand it to a point since their next three games are Villa, Real Madrid & Man City although I wouldn't have been pleased if OG had done the same thing and we got horsed 0-3.

The Liverpool team selection really surprised the guys on Talkshite. I was listening to their reaction when the teams were announced and they couldn’t understand why Liverpool weren’t pushing for a result given their title hopes are evaporating quicker than a puddle in the desert.
