Let's Kick Politics out of Football

from Wikipedia.....
"In December 2024, the Football Association indicated that they would contact Guéhi to remind him religious messaging is banned from equipment, after he played with "I love Jesus" handwritten over the rainbow-coloured captain's armband as part of Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign to support LGBTQ+ issues. In spite of the warning, Guéhi further risked FA charges by writing "Jesus loves you" over his rainbow armband in Palace's following game. Guéhi's father defended him from criticism, accusing the LGBT community of "trying to impose on others what they believe in"

Would this be a case of "some official messaging is acceptable. Your messaging ? not so much ?"

I'm so proud of both Marc and Wilf for the stands they took.

Like everything else: there are apparently suitable politics in football but other views are not acceptable. There is no debate; there is either censorship or punishment for opposing views - despite the fact that football fans have never been asked in any meaningful way. Clearly, nor have the players.

Wasn't the kneeling originally because it was being kneeled upon that supposedly killed George Floyd? (Even though the post mortem actually showed it was fentanyl)

Don't get me wrong, because I agree it was stupid to introduce taking the knee at football, either way.
And it wouldn't surprise me if the symbolism wasn't conveniently manipulated in the way you describe.
That was the most bizarre part of it all - it was actually started by an NFL player who instead of standing for the US national anthem, he took a knee.
Why did the Premier League take this display on?!
