Leicester City v Crystal Palace match thread

That first half performance simply wasn’t good enough. A better team than Leicester would have taken advantage.

I hoped for improvement in the second half and , while still a long way from being near our best, it was enough to beat woeful opponents.

Still, here we are on level points with Spurs. And looking up the table rather than at who’s behind. OG and the players deserve credit for overcoming the slow start and hopefully can continue pushing on.

Watched the game in a bar in Tenerife, 2 Leicester fans either side of me they both don’t think RVN will finish the season in charge, like most fans of a struggling side think the football is crap and the players are not good enough.

Although I thought we didn’t play particularly well we got the result and that’s what matters, good to win when you don’t play well also beating the sides at the bottom is another good sign. Will have to up our game for West Ham, obviously a win would be fantastic but would take a point.

Show off, don’t rub it in 😎🤣

Good news that it was fitness related and not a continuing or new injury.

Hughes has been superb this season. Potentially heading for his best one with us.

I think it's already his best season with us! Top of the list for POTY for me - we're a considerably better team with him in it.

Every time he is subbed off in a game, we visibly lose a lot of our control in midfield.

I cant help feeling there was probably a medical reason some of the players appeared leggy.

But we won ugly. Repeat that on Saturday and hopefully we can then continue our onwards march to the bang on middle of the table finish we so richly deserve.

Other clubs' fans expect European Cup finals - we have such a sense of self entitlement that we dream of a mid-table finish. Would we have it any other way? Well, possibly.

Having gone through the disappointing start to the season I was never in any doubt we'd turn things around but I'll admit to thinking this season a top ten finish was probably blown. Now I look where we are in the table (incredibly one of the divisions form teams) just 4 points off of 10th with 17 games left to play, I'm suddenly believing again. And why not? There's little point supporting a team if you cant enjoy the positives.
We were poor last night first half and needed to be better second half. In all honestly we weren't much better but we were clinical in front of goal and we ground it out. OG is doing an amazing job. All I can say about Leicester is 'Say ello to Millwall, Say ello to Millwall, La la la la...... 😀

I actually think this game (and Leicester’s defending) would suit Nketiah.
The bench suits Nketiah - both here and at Arsenal. TBH, I cannot see anything in him. I suppose if Wharton was passing to him that would improve things but Mateta is also way better at making the little runs to find space. He did a load in this game and, thankfully, Sarr found him with one
TBH, I'd cut our losses on Nketiah now if it was possible as we are on the hook for another 20million + on his contract, Everton are the only team below us looking for goals and they could probably afford his wages as they are moving to a new stadium.. They desparately need to stay up. Moyes might feel he can get a tune out of him and we could sell it as him just not fitting into Glasner's system.
Bring back Edouard (holds nose) as at least he will only stink the joint out for 18 months and at least offers a modicum of help as a target man and some height at set pieces

I wonder If the Arsenal are regretting selling him, now Jesus is crocked?

That’s the normal state for all Spurs managers - expected to keep up with the Arses by their fans despite lack of support from Levy, who will sack him when the natives get restless.
The Postecoglu signings include :

Van De Ven up to £43 Mill, Maddison £40 Mill, Johnson £47.5 Mill, Dragusin up to £26.75 Mill, Odobert £25 Mill, Gray £30 Mill and Solanke up to £65 Mill.

I agree that Edouard showed us more – in a considerable time here – than Nketiah has shown us thus far. However, if Mateta becomes injured, I would enjoy seeing what Nketiah could do with a run of fixtures. His first-touch goal against QPR was venomous and his header against Arsenal was spectacular, both well above the median in quality finishing. Glasner seems to be adept at bringing out the best in players, so I'm willing to be patient with Eddie N. He is talented, and his typical effort on the pitch far exceeds that of Edouard on a good day.

Exactly, Willo. No-one should be arguing that Levy hasn't backed him with the money for transfers. As for the quality of the purchases...

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but the commentator said there was a bug/flu that went through our team, Glasner said it had gone in the press conference but with our poor first half performance and Lerma going off, maybe it was still lingering.

Agree, Vardy’s movement and positioning has been very good.
If there's one player I wish had been playing for us over the past decade it would be him. Apart from his exceptional goalscoring ability he always puts in a shift. I remember us pummeling Leicester (5-0?) a few years ago and he was hassling our defence to the very end

IMO, Vardy to Leicester was the bargain move of the last decade. Wish we'd have taken the chance on him (as probably do most fans of other PL clubs).

Don't you have flu vaccines in the UK? I would have thought that it would be mandatory for players to take them, if available
