Lacroix

This was one I hoped we would avoid.
He's powerfully built, strong and competitive in the air, but he always has a mistake in him.
Mistakes are frequently punished in the Premier League and we were fortunate with Lacroix and Guehi in having two defenders who didn't make too many mistakes.
For all of his potential, Canvot is still prone to errors at this stage.
Do we want to add a more experienced central defender in Disai who again is error prone?
He did play well for west ham towards the end but yes i was hoping for someone like charlie cresswell

As i have said it is important that all 4 loans are used properly, unlike Uche, if he comes in for a year with option, we sell Lacroix for 60m and buy a younger, that Sage likes, then we have 5 decent CDs to rotate

Chelsea do tend to be our go-to PL club for loans - Batsuaiyi (twice), Gallagher, Chalobah in the last few years, so no real surprise that we're willing to take another one of theirs especially if it gets the Lacroix deal over the line at a price we're happy with.

I don't really know much about Disasi so must see what happens if he comes. I still expect us to bring in another CD but on a permanent deal

Talk of the devil. For some reason unknown to me, he's listed as £5m in OUR Fantasy league for the coming season? What aren't the club telling us?

Understand the point on loans , but the fact remains it's a further degradation of the squad if Guehi and Lacroix are replaced with players of lesser quailty.
I'm not suggesting it's easy, but we've lost Olise, Eze and Guehi and it looks like Lacroix will follow and in each case we look worse off.
If Lacroix leaves too that will be our third major departure within a year when Parish has previously avowed he wanted to limit this to one a year to allow for proper planning and squad management .

I understand your point, i am hoping Sage is part of the transfer situation and has a short list of players he would like

I totally get that we have to sell our best players eventually, once the top clubs come calling that’s it, we’re punching above our weight and we just can’t compete financially. But as you state, that’s 3 in less than a year and the worry is you just can’t keep selling your best players at this level, it could catch up with us

That's the absolute key, isn't it? Nobody is being shackled, but the timing is up to us. We aren't in debt, we don't need to sell, we will trade but not when doing so makes us weaker.

Thing is, life is full of people. Actual , three dimensional people. And they all have their own perspective and agenda, which may differ from our business plan.

I remember Ferguson saying, after United had sold Ronaldo to Madrid, that they had done well to keep him for the final year. This is a paid employee, under contract, and the most successful manager ever is talking in terms of having done a good job just to hold him to the terms the player had willingly signed up to.

Life ain't simple, I suppose.
