Labour Party politics

I put up the numbers. I haven’t skewed anything. How much is enough for a pensioner or couple to survive for 20 years then if means testing. Property, council tax and household bills excluded to make it a real number. I mean fancy wanting treats as an old person !

The numbers which prove your original claim to be totally incorrect.

I don't think it's for the state to fund 'treats'.

By 1 billion on a spend of 146. I was 0.75% out without googling before like you did. By treats I mean expenditure that many do. Maybe rarely some meals out or even buying clothes etc. hardly treats or you are one tight git to your family !

This started by silver wanting pensions limited to pay for more immigration control. I ask now what should be the amount needed to control immigration.
10 billion-20 billion. Although there has to be a will to stop it and you can’t buy that !

Yes, your claim was incorrect.

I treat my family plenty thank you, but I do so at my own expense, not the taxpayer.

People can do what they want with their own money, obviously. We're talking about public expenditure, and currently we give more welfare to the richest demographic in society than to anyone else - I don't think it's controversial to say that probably needs addressing...

There's this huge contradiction on the right where you all want the welfare bill down and less taxes, but as soon as someone mentions the largest welfare expense we have, there's no real interest in tackling it.

What? To the likes of Mateta you mean?

Import taxes to be removed on more than 100 food products, including gherkins and marmalade, as well as kerosene and fertilisers.

Great cos i love gherkins and marmalade 🤢

All thanks to Brexit, same with the VAT cut on gas bills. Not so good is, from next year Mayors will be allowed to keep 20% of local business rates. In effect this means a cut in council revenue. Still I am not worried my council Bromley will get it back from Khan, it's not like he's going to pass it on to his pals in the London Labour councils.

And just like another poster when asked to put his money where his mouth is you side step the question.

Please answer the question. Are you prepared to take a dip in your state pension to pay for improved policies on illegal immigration? Yes or no?
IF and it’s a big IF, there was cast iron proof that the powers that be completely stopped the invasion of undocumented economic migrants, so I felt comfortable that my 2 young granddaughters will grow up in a country, safe from predatory foreign men, then yes I would. The fact is, this will never happen.
Now can you supply the evidence to substantiate your statement,
“ Ever wonder why your visit to a new car showroom only has people your age; or why every foreign holiday you have feels like a Darby and Joan Club outing?“

As an aside and not aimed at you. I mentioned the only way to stop the illegal immigration is to impose deterrents. The obvious deterrent was Rwanda which was never given the chance, mainly due the left opposing the scheme. Interestingly it appears Denmark, Netherlands Greece Germany and Austria are now going to use the accommodation set up by us. Now as, apparently we all want to be part of the wonderful EU, and all work together, should we be following suit?

We've all got to live within our means - some people just expect too many handouts; foreign holidays, flat-screen TVs etc.

Sorry I'm just towing the line here in terms of how we deal with affordability concerns and people on benefits. It's amazing how different a reaction pensioners get.
If it's in a manifesto and people vote for it.

That makes no sense.

What government would not score an easy win on a reduced cost?
Why? we have the last 2 who have refused to do it. HRA, pressure from different factions within their parties. If there was a will, they would have at least given Rwanda a chance, as a deterrent like other EU Countries appear to be doing.
Any response to my question or are you, doing a Burnham and swerving it? 😂
