Labour Party politics

What I think is most significant has not got anything to do with whether numbers have gone down by 40%. What I think doesn’t alter that fact. I have told you, it’s simple, Google it, it’s all there ,and you can see what you think is most significant.
Why so coy? I would have thought you would be only too pleased to trumpet the miraculous policies of our glorious leader? In any case, I thought you socialists regarded immigration as the best thing that ever happened to this country?

OK, but the number coming into the EU as a whole has also dropped by the same 40% unless Labour are claiming credit for that too.
Yes but there are not 40% less numbers waiting for a chance to cross those numbers are not thought to be to much down yet. If the trend continues we have to hope numbers will automatically fall. Every one here wins, Im all for it.

Absolutely but the total is now the same as it was in 2022 and 2024. Maybe they work on a two year recruitment rota.

No need for me to trumpet Labour policy. I’m not a Labour.or any other party man.
I will trumpet that illegal immigration is down 40%, on their watch. If the Tories were the government I would say the same because it’s happening . You say Labour have done F-all on this. The facts say you are wrong.

Its a valid point. This is what staggers me about people who still vote Tory. Sure, Tony Blair was everything people say he was, and more, but the damage we are seeing to the country in the here and now, that was down to the Tories. And to Johnson in particular.

Now I don't think it would have been any different under Labour, but the point remains. The Tories are for my money, far worse as they lied and lied to their supporters about this issue.

A curse on both their houses and whilst the figures might be down, until they are totally reversed so that MILLIONS are sent back, then this mess is not ending.

I'm no Burnham fan, but as PM he clearly has more access to intelligence briefings than you or I.
As the Head of M15 clarified yesterday Russia did interfere in the Brexit referendum but it was low level and had no significant impact.

Why is that so difficult to accept?
Not true. He is saying that if Russia tried to influence the election then it means that they must have also tried to influence the referendum. That is not evidence. It is supposition. He also conveniently forgets that every one and their uncle, including the POTUS, Hillary Clinton and reps from the EU tried to influence the vote in favour of Remain.
Only stupid people would fall for this crap.

How much longer can they claim that? And reduced numbers are not the important factor. We have thousands here already that should never have been allowed to enter Britain and should be deported immediately.
The excuses are endless and none of these self serving cowards have the courage to do what needs to be done.

Only stupid people cannot tell the difference between politicians and public figures openly stating their opinions about the merits, or otherwise, of EU membership and the covert activities of bad faith actors planting misinformation on social media. Which Russia did. This was known by the government at the time of the vote but they decided to ignore it.

But they weren’t successful, according to the Government!

It can't be that stupid if the Head of MI5 is talking about the risk

Not strictly Labour Party's fault but as they are the government.

This is unreal. Many of us have criticised public servants as being inefficient and incompetent. This case says more about them than the actual person on trial. A skiver and cheat can happen in any work place, 5 jobs, 5 different lines managers c'mon. That yells us the system is broken.

Quite frankly it's pathetic and heads should roll.

Yep posted this on another thread. I wonder why no performance review was deemed necessary 🤔. Sounds like his line manager, who would know his work ethics, felt that he did not warrant a permanent position, sounds like a tick the correct boxes decision. Having worked in the CS can’t understand how this happens as everyone has some sort of vetting ( or always used to). Indeed heads should roll

Can you tell us about these aggressive anti migrant policies? Has the government overstepped the law!
The number one cause has been the relative stability from the donation nations. E.g. the numbers spiked from Syrians till the fall of Assad and from Afghans after the rise of the Taliban.

The main policies have been done by the EU with North African nations, including funding e.g. the Tunisian coastguard to intercept boats. They have also been instrumental in setting up internment camps in e.g. Libya.

Closer to home, the current government have stepped up funding and co-operation with the Continent on attacking the people smugglers and returning boats to France. Our government is e.g. co-funding the French police for this.

Asylum applications have accelerated and the process has streamlined although I understand there remain bottle necks at appeal level.

Removals have increased, and the rules have changed on eligibility for citizenship which are believed to be deterring some.

Not far enough, of course, but what do you expect for a nation with critical public finance issues. Thus, would you happily pay an additional 5% tax and also lop 10% off your state pension to pay for all you want if the money was guaranteed ring-fenced for that purpose?

That's your idea of aggressive is it?!
No, I would get the money from benefit fraudsters and from the savings made by abolishing the Scottish and Welsh assemblies and all the metro-mayors.

Oh you're a click of the fingers money tree type.

Total fantasy

But interesting you claim to have passion for the changes needed but are not prepared to make any financial sacrifices to achieve it.

I told you how to fund it! How about giving absolutely no support to the arrivals and using the money saved. It has the added benefit of the boats stopping within a couple of weeks of it being implemented.

You are referring to pensions?

We all know that's coming, it's all welfare and it's all going to be cut to some extent, worthy or unworthy.

No one should be looking forward to any of it, but that's the situation that's been created especially since Blair.....Not just here, all over the western world.....The EU especially, which is even worse.
