Labour Party politics

I agree that no teacher should be pushing politics in anyway in educating young minds.

However, having been a teacher I know that it happens, especially so in the humanities. The leadership of most schools is brazenly socially liberal yet here it seems the Labour party are trying to get this guy the sack because he's different.....oh the irony.

There are many good teachers and a lot of them are left wing and professional about their job and that deserves respect: a minority aren't though.

But if anyone has taught in the secondary school system they will know what I'm talking about. The whole culture of most secondary schools is infected with feminist and social liberal ideology, from the events they put on to the kind of language they use in emails. How they talk to the pupils and what they reward and punish is also an inevitable part of that.

If you aren't part of that mindset or a cheer leader for it, you quickly learn to keep your mouth shut in the staff room as a straight white male. It's not a free from consequences situation....they won't promote you and in some cases will get rid of you.

I don't believe teachers should publicly advertise their political preferences. However many openly support the left and their governors and local authorities are fine with that.

Sauce for the goose...
Teachers are as entitled to a private life as anyone else. Where I used to live one was a local councillor and much appreciated for her work for the community.

What they mustn’t do is allow any political beliefs to impact their teaching. It’s the Governors jobs to ensure that doesn’t happen and take action if it does.

I have no idea if the Reform supporting teacher was breaking their contract by politicising their teaching but if not then they have nothing to fear. If they were, then they will rightly be disciplined.

Typical Mail selective reporting. The tweet was quickly corrected and this statement issued by the Council:-

“Basildon Council's leader, Gavin Callaghan, told the Daily Mail: 'Basildon Labour haven't asked for any teacher to be sacked based on who they individually support. Any teacher can vote for anyone they like.
Schools themselves should remain politically impartial. You're referring to an issue relating to a traffic enforcement issue outside the school in which Reform UK Councillors were acting as traffic enforcement officers without any powers or clearance from the local authority, but with the apparent blessing of the school.”

Don’t let that stop a good story designed to wind up the faithful! Picked up and magnificent by that bastion of truth Paul Joseph Watson. Who never spread a conspiracy theory in his life!
