Labour Party politics

This is why politicians should keep out of football.

"Crisis clubs can absolutely be saved" says Lisa Nandy.

"In the case of Morecambe [the regulator] would definitely make a difference," Nandy told Radio 4's Today programme. "There are powers for the regulator to be able to force the owners to sell in circumstances where it would otherwise be lost.

Yes Lisa assuming that somebody wants to buy it? Clubs that are going bust it's not normally the price that is the problem but the debt. HMRC are normally the biggest debtor and quite rightly want their money back. So if the regulator forces a sale does that mean the taxpayer takes a haircut?

The financial black hole caused by the covid spending is coming home to roost and there are going to be heavy tax rises come the Autumn budget.

The madness of that spending....No one would listen but on top of stupidly high energy bills because of a stupid war with Russia and net zero hard working people are going to be poorer.

And every day more and more immigrants from the third world turn up here.....far more by plane than boat.

It's going to be a re-run of the seventies but with far lower social cohesion.....strikes and capital flight.

Good to see the Homelessness minister leading by example.

She managed to increase the numbers by 4. 😀

When asked why she had jacked up her rents she said

"It's all the fault of this useless government that prices have gone up. Err I mean well you see err..."

A pound to a penny that it’ll be ‘sold’ to a connected party and converted to an HMO pre-let to HMG on a long term contract….or am I just being cynical ?

Gordon Brown was on the radio this morning talking about taxing certain parts of the betting industry more heavily to fund child welfare.
Regardless of what one thinks about Brown and his policies, it was refreshing to listen to someone who could string words together well, communicate his message clearly and manage the interviewer. A great contrast to Rachel Reeves and Starmer who increasingly sound more like a pair of whoopee cushions.

I like a flutter every now and then. I have no problem taxing the gaming industry, it wreaks havoc on some people so they should pay.

I maybe wrong on this but aren't many of the big gaming companies based offshore and so don't pay tax?

If that is correct why do the government give them a licence? Surely if you want to run a gambling business in the UK we should demand you are registered in the UK and pay your full share of taxes. Or is this because you have lots of MPs on the payroll.

Yes, Brown made that point. He wants to tax slot machines and online gambling more heavily.

Amazon taking over and the loss of small businesses paying tax is a big loss. And I roll my eyes when women say they love Starbucks. FFS.
